My dear friend Holly took goofy me to a cool people party when we were younger. She told me what to wear, and what to expect, and we had a great time. It was a fine evening - judging by the photo it must have been in the autumn, because there are no leaves on the tree - and at one point I took some time to climb a tree and sit quietly. Many many years later, Holly gave me a photograph of me up this autumn tree, looking relaxed and way cooler than I have ever aspired to actually be. It's one of my most treasured photographs, because it reminds me how much I love her, and what an amazing and wise and thoughtful friend she has been to me.
