Quad stretching - Gesture Practice

By DoctorPlatypus | Doctor Platypus | 13 Aug 2020

More gesture practice today - This took me about 45 minutes.

swimmer stretching left quad - in pencil

Because I misplaced his hips on the overall gesture line, and because I drew his head too small (or perhaps too far down on the gesture line), there are some proportion issues here, making it look like he either has giant long legs and a tiny head or that there's a weird forced perspective thing going on, like it was a photograph and the camera were on the floor close to his feet. His right foot is objectively scary - I will probably go back and work more on that after posting.

I am pretty happy with the shading, and with the shape of his arms and back. I am also pleasantly surprised by the way his face came out and his right knee (is it weird to be happy about his knee?)

In the draft version of this post, there was a strange aspect ratio issue that makes the image much wider in proportion to its height. In the preview, the image is closer to the correct aspect ratio, but appears horizontal. I'm not sure what caused either of those issues, or if either of them will be present in the published version.

As always, lots and lots to learn.
