I spent more or less the entire month of August traveling. First I went tubing with friends down a river in Western Massachusetts, then a 10 day trip bicycling around the north coast of Iceland, which was AMAZING and like riding a bike on Mars, but with unexpected and pervasive sheep leaping out from behind bushes to startle you (BAAAAAH! BAAAAAH!). Then a final long weekend at a rustic lakehouse in upstate New York, where I played board games with friends and breathed the clean crisp air.
Now I am back, and out of practice drawing, and I need to re-establish my regular drawing habit. I figure I will try to do #inktober again this year, so look for daily sketches, some of them terrible, come October. But in the meantime, I have resumed my Wednesday evening drawing-with-friends zoom sessions, and this evening I drew these cheerful meerkats, based on a photo from Time for Kids:

At some point I want to go back in and add shading and color to the actual meerkats, but I want to make sure they don't fade into the rock or the background. Maybe red or blue are the answer.
In the meantime, I am recommending a bike ride through Iceland. I saw the Arctic Ocean! We soaked in a hot pool filled with geothermally-heated ocean water from the Arctic! It. Was. Incredible.
Happy September everyone!
