Amaryllis bloom - pencil sketch, cropped

Amaryllis!

By DoctorPlatypus | Doctor Platypus | 21 Apr 2022

So, my mom, who is splendid and considerate and lovely, and who gives excellent presents, has for the last couple of years at Christmas given me these wax bulbs that you set in indirect light, and that eventually produce an amaryllis flower. The first Christmas she gave me one of these amaryllis bulbs I had recently experienced a very painful breakup, and seeing this flower growing and getting increasingly beautiful really helped cheer me up. I loved that flower, and she saw how much joy it brought me, and so this year she gave me another one, and I love it so much. Thanks Mom! I love you!

Here is a drawing of this year's amaryllis.

My Wednesday night art zoom has reconvened, so I hope to be posting more artwork going forward.

I hope everyone is having a great spring!
