Heinz Nixdorf was born in 1926 in Paderborn. His family was very poor, he lerned very quickly that if he wanted to escape poverty he had to be better than the others.

He attented high school in 1941 unfortunately he hat to leave school after two years due to the war. He had to work first then he was drafted by the military he joins the Luftwaffe.

His father fell in the war, now he had to provide for family. After the war he works on a farm. He also took his A-levels and studied physics in Frankfurt am Mein. There he got to know the plans for an electronic computer. He breaks off his studies and started his own buisness.

His idea was to build a smaller and better computer that could process data 1950 his first computer is finished. The company RWE bought his computer. Nixdorf's company grew.

1960 Heinz Nixdorf moves back to Paderborn with his wife whom he met at a customer and builds his first own company building there. Exactly where he grew up as a child in poverty.

 

The computer buisness flourished and already in 1962 his company had 100 employees. At a technology fair in Hanover 1968 Heinz was the star with his computer. His microcomputer fitted on a desk wich made him interesting for companys and authrities.

At the beginning of the 70s Nixdorf Computers were leading the way. His company was even a competitor for IBM Nixdorf even sold to the USA. He continued to develop the technology and also build the first ATMs in Germany. In the 80's Nixdorf's company reached its climax.

1986 Heinz Nixdorf dies of a heart attack he was buried in his hometown.
