We need advertisements in our society. They help companies grow their brand recognition and sales revenue, while also keeping consumers well informed about new products, technology, and advancements. Regardless of all that, ads suck balls. They increase data usage, slow your device, and are usually irrelevant. Companies aren't thrilled with their advertisement performances, either, due to their inefficiency and high costs. Brave Browser, a new search engine built on the Ethereum blockchain, is hoping to change that.
Brave works just like Chrome or Firefox would for surfing the web, except it offers an ad free experience. Using built in ad block, Brave Browser removes ads and 3rd party tracking, resulting in both content loading faster and a decrease in data usage. Ads still exist on the platform, though, only Brave gave the power back to the user. Users can opt to view ads for compensation in the form of Basic Attention Tokens (BAT). Users are paid based on how many ads they choose to see and for how long. Being compensated, Brave believes users are more likely to engage and trust advertisements, providing better results for marketing efforts.
BAT reached it's all time high on 11/28/2021 with a price of $1.92. As of 5/27/2022, BAT is priced at $0.362 USD. This is just a small snippet of what Brave offers users and advertisers, but there is much more to it. If you're up to learning more about them, consider checking out their website or white paper. Don't forget to creep on their Twitter and Reddit for all the tea.
*I've been using Brave for about a year with no complaints at all. I have also successfully cashed out my BAT compensation each month. However, make sure to do your own research or consult a financial expert prior to making and financial decisions or providing any personal details.
