Now there is an opportunity for miners to help fight the COVID 19 pandemic, a highlight for the modern day distributed crowd computing.

The initiative is aiming to involve individuals across the world to offer and contribute there hardware to simulate the COVID19 protein in order to find a treatment. This is similar to sharing your mining hardware for mining operations. By simulating, scientists can understand more about protein and core functionalities to aid in the design of new therapeutics for the virus.

[email protected] (FAH or [email protected]) is a distributed computing project aimed to help scientists develop new therapeutics to a variety of diseases by the means of simulating protein dynamics. This includes the process of protein folding and the movements of proteins, and it's all reliant on the simulations run on the volunteers' personal computers. [email protected] is currently based at Washington University in St. Louis and led by Dr. Greg Bowman, a former student of Dr. Pande.

Now volunteers can share there idle computing power to run these simulations. This initiative made successful strides in fighting against Ebola outbreak few years back. With more simulation power, it will take lesser and lesser time to scientists to find a cure.
