For this week's Splinterlands Social Media Challenge, I'd like to share and review with the Splinterlands community a purchase I made in the Glint Shop. I've been trying my luck with Loot Chests recently, and my last purchase from the Glint Shop was 50x Major Chests. Let's take a look at whether the rewards from these Major Chests were better or worse than opening the same amount of Glint spent on Draws (Common, Rare, Epic). If you're curious to know the answer, check out the details!
I'll be much appreaciated if you Upvote, Reblogs or give any Tips ( PIZZA 🍕, PGM 🎮, LOLZ 😆, ALIVE ❤️, etc ). Thanks and have good reading! 🍀
[ENGLISH VERSION]
50x Major Chests: What's in the Chests?
To understand if it was worth the glints spent, let's first analyze what came in 50x Major Chests. Starting with the cards, there were 56 cards in total, of which there were: two epics (Shock Trooper and Arachne Weaver), 22x rare cards, including Janni Rebel, Dark Arborist, Dragon Egg Forager, Razorhound, Chaos Adjutant and Skyspier Leopard; and 32x common cards in total. If each Major Chest costs 1000 glint, we have that in total 50k Glint tokens were spent.
In addition to cards, other items are also common in chests, such as Mertis, Potions and the best secondary reward that can come from Energy. In opening 50 Major Chests, you will find: 6455 merits, which allows you to open 3 Gladius Cases (2k each); 76 Potions, 47 of which are Legendary and 29 Gold Foil Potions; and last but not least, 16x Energy.
How much would the Cards be in the Draws?

Now let's analyze how much Glint we received in the cards to get an idea of whether it was worth it or not. First, we have to say that the Glint of the Draws is: Common Draw (150), Rare Draw (750), Epic Draw (7500), Legendary Draw (35000). Knowing the Glint costs of each draw and how many cards we get from each rarity in the chest, we can calculate the Glint “return” from opening the chest.
So, we have 2x7500 in epics, plus 22x750 in rares and 32x150 in commons. The final calculation is as follows: Glint = (2 X 7500) + (22 X 750) + (32 x 150) = 36300 Glint. This would be the cost spent on the draws to get the same amount of cards that came in the chests.
Conclusion: Which is better?

With this, we can conclude that if your goal is to improve your deck and evolve your cards, most of the time choosing Draws can be better, because the cost in glint to get the same cards is lower. However, by choosing Loot Chests you expose yourself to the luck of getting a Jackpot, because even if the chance is low it is greater than 0%, which would be your chance when choosing Draws. Furthermore, if we count the Glint values of Potions, Merits and especially Energy, the amount of glint starts to get closer to the total spent, representing a smaller difference than just considering the cards.
This is the magic of Gwen’s Glint Store, it gives players the power of CHOICE, passing on to the player the responsibility of choosing between Draws and Loot Chests, depending on what they are looking for at the moment. If the goal is to level up your Deck, perhaps Draws will help you more to level up your Reward Cards. However, if you want a greater variety of options and expose yourself to luck, even if this is a little worse in terms of cards and glint/cards, Loot Chests can help you. The important thing is to analyze what you are looking for, analyze what other players are doing and then make the best decision.
