I had an idea to share weekly updates related to Splinterlands in a post series called "Road to BattleMage." The inspiration for this name came from the game's main page, which features the phrase "From Adventurer to Battle Mage." For me, "Road to BattleMage" represents my journey as a player who already has some game knowledge but still has plenty of room for improvement before I can consider myself a Battle Mage in every sense.
My first goal is to climb the ranked ladder; I'm currently in Gold II in the Wild Format. Last season, I managed to reach Gold I and even made it onto the leaderboard, but I'm not sure what happened this season—I haven't performed as well as before. This is despite upgrading my cards, acquiring new ones from the market, and receiving gifts of cards used in Modern; the drop in performance is truly puzzling.
One possible explanation is that I still need to level up my Summoners to truly utilize my cards to their full potential. That is one of my goals, and I hope to share the news with you all once I upgrade a Summoner.
Oh, and regarding the title—I was unsure which name to choose, but since "Battle Mage" is the term for advanced players within the Splinterlands universe and the world of Praetoria, I decided to go with that. What's also interesting is that this name doesn't limit me to just improving in ranked play; it encompasses other aspects of the game as well. This is because, as Steem Monsters Corp CEO Dave mentioned in a recent post, his vision for the ecosystem focuses on three pillars: Gameplay, Land, and DeFi.
Therefore, in my view, a complete "Battle Mage" is a user who is strong across these three pillars: they have a solid deck to compete at the highest ranked levels, participate in tournaments, help their guild in Brawls, own some Land, and contribute to game liquidity by holding a share of the pools. When you look at all these aspects, it is truly a long journey just to achieve the minimum requirements for all of them...
Regarding ranked matches, I’d like to reach Gold I in the short term and then compete in Diamond; I’d also like to place in the top 25 of a Survival bracket. In the future, if Modern and Wild energy pools are separated, I plan to play in both formats. As for tournaments, I think I could participate in a few more if I took the time to analyze what I'm missing. I feel my participation in guild battles and Brawls is already quite good.
The issue arises with Land and DeFi, areas where I currently have no involvement... With Land, there are many details to fully grasp once you acquire your first plot, but maximizing its production is very expensive and complex—not to mention that the future of resources remains uncertain. As for DeFi, it has become more prominent in the game—which makes sense—but there isn't much information regarding APR or expected returns, making it difficult to analyze...
I'll be much appreaciated if you Votes, Reblogs or give any Tips. Thanks and have good reading! 🍀
Splinterlands Road to BattleMage - The Beginning
After an introduction about my vision for BattleMage, I believe it's interesting to share some improvements made during the last week. Remember that since the focus of this post was on introducing this idea, I won't go into too much detail.
Last week, I used all the glint I earned in ranked matches to buy Common Draws, and with that I managed to upgrade 2 cards, one of which surprised me...
The first was Stonebind Matron, which reached level 6, gaining one more HP, making the card more resistant. The real goal is to get the card to level 8 to achieve 3 magic damage, and then level 10 to gain the new ability.
Next, the other upgrade was to the magmaforged, also at level 6, which gained even more speed, reaching 6 speed. In the case of this card, the best strategy would be to reach level 7 as soon as possible to unlock Return Fire, and then level 10 to unlock the ability that will truly utilize the card's full speed.
Finally, another piece of news is regarding Stake, which I managed to increase by around 100 SPS, counting gains from Brawls, Tournaments, and ranked matches. I hope to reach 10x Stake just with staking, but I'm in no rush.
