A few days ago, the prizes for the Survival bracket test event were distributed to players—everyone likely knows this by now. However, what few realize is that by participating in Survival and achieving a high ranking (Top 25), a player earns an Ascension Token. This token grants entry into the Ascension Tournament, which takes place shortly after the season ends.
While the prize pool might not match the 250K from the main event, the tournament still offers significant rewards. Participants can earn anywhere from 15K to 300K Glint. It is also worth noting that the test event is temporary; consequently, the tournament prizes represent one of the best ways to acquire Glint—often equaling the total amount an intermediate player earns over an entire season. Receiving this amount in a single day of play is essentially like playing matches and earning Glint every day of the season all over again.
Last season marked my first time participating in this event, and I earned a reward of 35K Glint—half the amount needed for a Legendary Draw. With that in mind, I decided to save up my Glint throughout the season to acquire my second legendary card from the Conclave Arcana reward collection.
The reason for spending Glint on a legendary card is simple: having an extra legendary card gives me one more option to use during this season's Survival matches, making it easier to complete the event. Furthermore, some cards are incredibly powerful even at Level 1 and enable fascinating combos. Come find out which legendary card I obtained!
I'll be much appreaciated if you Votes, Reblogs or give any Tips. Thanks and have good reading! 🍀
Splinterlands Legendary Draw - Savaketh
The other day, while chatting with a fellow Splinterlands player, he showed me an interesting strategy—though, unfortunately, it didn't work out. Before trying his luck with the draws, he bought potions to increase his chances of pulling a Gold Foil. I decided to do the same before opening my Legendary Draw and bought 16 Alchemy Potions; the same thing happened—I got a Regular Foil. So, I’m not sure if it’s actually worth doing, but it’s an interesting little detail.
The card I pulled from the Legendary Draw was a sea monster that reminds me a bit of Davy Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean because of the tentacles on its face; it’s called Savaketh, the Tideborn, from the Death element. I’m not sure yet if I’ll use this card as frequently as I’ve used Sten Saltehelm—who sees a lot of play—but it does seem like a strong card.
Even at Level 1, Savaketh boasts some interesting stats, though the mana cost is a bit high. The energy in her hands gives a hint of what to expect: she is a mage dealing 2 magic damage, has a moderate speed of 3, and solid survivability with 10 HP and 1 armor. Unfortunately, she doesn't have any abilities at Level 1, but at Level 2, she gains Redemption, which deals 1 physical damage to opponents upon her defeat.
At level 3, Savaketh gains an interesting ability: Invigorate. This ability prevents allied units from becoming exhausted. The simplest combo enabled by this ability involves cards with the "Weary" trait—which normally causes units to stop attacking after a few turns—as Savaketh allows them to keep going. However, there are no Death-element cards with Weary (aside from Halfling Refugee or using Bulkhead in a Tideborn combo). Regardless, the card is already usable in certain situations at level 1 or 2; it doesn't necessarily require a specific combo to be effective.
Interestingly, the arrival of the new summoner Ghezira—from the latest Escalation airdrop—introduces an ability that inflicts Weary on units. This will likely make cards with Invigorate a viable option for countering this summoner, while also strengthening your own monsters that possess the Weary trait.
These cards force Ghezira to grant Flying to his units, potentially allowing you to use cards that specifically target Flying units or strip away that ability. What do you think of this card? What is your favorite Legendary?
