Rare Draws to Upgrade Cards at Splinterlands

57 Rare Draws to Upgrade 4 Cards at Splinterlands

Upgrading common cards in Splinterlands has been quite significant; I've managed to level up over six common cards, and now a large portion of them require a substantial number of copies to reach Level 8.

One detail to consider is that, since the odds of pulling common cards from chests are much higher than pulling rare, epic, or legendary ones, I need to be careful as I approach max level. I want to avoid overspending Glint and ending up with excess cards—especially since level-up chests also provide some cards.

Otherwise, I might end up with more cards than needed for the max level. This could be problematic, as extra copies wouldn't boost my rating or improve my deck, and I would have to unbind them to sell them and acquire other cards.

Furthermore, the amount of Glint required to upgrade rare cards became comparable to that of commons. Since I was only missing a small number of copies—between 4 and 6 BCX—for some rare reward cards, it made sense to focus on rares next. Consequently, I decided to use the remaining Glint from the last End of Season (EOS) on 57 Rare Draws, allowing me to level up four different cards.

As a quick spoiler, two of the rare cards I leveled up deserve special mention: one gained a key ability that makes it much more viable, while the other received a boost of two defensive stats at once. The other upgrades were minor stat adjustments: Swampwrought gained +1 Shield, and Torrent Sniper gained +1 Speed.

I'll be much appreaciated if you VotesReblogs or give any Tips. Thanks and have good reading! 🍀

Upgrading 4 Cards with 57 Rare Draws in Splinterlands

Starting with the main card upgraded using the 57 Rare Draws: the Surgehammer. Upon reaching level 5, it gained two stat boosts at once—+1 Shield and +1 HP—making it much tankier.

The strategy for using the Surgehammer involves placing it in the backline; since "Sneak" attacks often have low speed, and the card possesses the "Flying" ability, its chances of dodging attacks are significantly higher. I like pairing it with Possibilus; when targeting the opponent with the lowest HP, there is a high probability of securing a kill and triggering the ability to attack again. It will be at its best at level 6, where it gains +1 Attack—we're almost there.

The second key highlight is the Withered Old Sage. It is rarely used due to its low HP—4 HP means it gets defeated quickly—but this recent upgrade to level 6 granted it +1 Shield, allowing it to last a bit longer, as well as the "Spite" ability, which triggers a counter-attack upon its defeat.

Of course, the ideal scenario is having it at max level to gain the Resurrect ability, but until then, I believe level 6 is the next best option; even if it gets defeated—which is likely to happen—it will still deal significant damage to the opponent, given its 3 magic damage.

One question regarding the Spite ability arises in matches where all units have Bloodlust: if the counter-attack manages to defeat the opponent, does the card gain +1 HP from Bloodlust and avoid being defeated? Lorkus might turn out to be the best summoner due to the +1 magic damage bonus; the other Archos aren't as effective with the Sage.
