Good day everybody,
Welcome to CryptoGod-1's blog on all things crypto. Today we are going to take a look at a NFT project I have come across and think is somewhat interesting, especially given my interest in football, and it is called World Cup Wild Card.

World Cup Wild Card
The project World Cup Wild Card sprung up recently on Twitter, where it caught my attention. As a sports fan, if any of you have seen my Sports Blog, then you will know I adore football and this is another project of interest to me.
Basically World Cup Wild Card is a project consisting of all the teams participating the this years FIFA World Cup in Qatar. All 32 teams will have their own standard Wild Card, along with 50 Golden Wild Cards of random teams hidden amongst the lot. Overall that makes for a total of 1650 NFTs.
32 Nations x 50 Standard Wild Cards
50 Gold Wild Cards of Random Nations
The idea behind the World Cup Wild Card project is to give people the chance of drawing a nation to support and follow through the tournament, whether that be in the hopes of them succeeding, or them completely failing in the competition. There are prizes for a multitude of things, meaning whatever nation someone Mints they can be in with a chance of being a winner.
Minting
The minting began on the 17th of November, 3 days before the FIFA World Cup kicks off. From what I have read on the project the minting begins at 0.005 WETH (wrapped Ethereum on the Polygon Network), which depending on the volatility of the market is about €5-6. Not the most expensive NFT I have encountered and seems like a fun amount to part with for placing basically the same as a bet on the FIFA World Cup. The mint is a Lazy Mint, meaning anybody who wants to buy will pay a small gas fee in Matic on the Polygon network and the NFT will only be revealed once it has been minted.

Prize Pool
There is a page on the website which goes into more detail on how the prizes and prize pool works in general. Basically it seems that the crypto spent minting the NFTs will be stored in a Crypto wallet, and once the FIFA World Cup ends that crypto will be given out to the winners of each category. The categories listed are as follows:
- World Cup Winner (50 Cards)
- World Cup Runner Up (50 Cards)
- Third Place Play-off Winner (50 Cards)
- Countries with Players in the Team of the Tournament (up to 11 x 50 Cards)
- Country with the Player of the Tournament (50 Cards)
- Worst Performing Country at the World Cup (50 Cards)
*some of the above, such as a Player of the Tournament being from the World Cup Winning Nation and in the Team of the Tournament would see holders of that country getting 3 parts of the prize pool*
On top of this it has also been shown to have Special Gold Card NFT's amongst the standard Wild Cards. According to the website anyone who holds a Gold Card will get their purchase price of the NFT back regardless of whether or not that country is a winner at the tournament. How much each category will receive back is unknown but on one of the Twitter posts it stated up to 10x the original investment, all depending on the overall amount of sales of Wild Cards.
It seems like an interesting venture, as assuming all 1650 or so NFTs were sold out at a price of 0.005 WETH then we would assume there would be just over 8 WETH in the wallet. If those levels of sales were met and from the above calculation of prizes meaning up to 850 different Wild Cards could be winners, Of course chance are a Nation would have more than one country in the team of the tournament and its likely to be the winning nation that has the player of the tournament, but it still seems like a decent amount of prizes to be giving away.

FAQ
There is a section also where the frequently asked questions are laid out and answered, which gives some more interesting insight into the project.

Conclusion
It looks like an interesting project. You don't know what you will get, but you know it will be one of the teams at the FIFA World. There is always a chance of minting a country like Brazil or Argentina, which will likely ensure you are a winner, and also the chance of Iran or Qatar, which could also be winners under the Worst Performing Country at the World Cup category. I think with the unusual way the World Cup is this year, in the winter, and how there is always a surprise package or two at the World Cup, then any country would be fun to get. The developers post it as "finding another team to follow besides your home nation" and that is always a fun thing to do.
