By cryptogod-1 | CryptoGod-1 : Sports | 28 Sep 2021

Hello everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the sports, welcome to CryptoGod-1's blog on all things sports. In today's edition, we will be reviewing the latest round of matches in the Premier League. We witnessed some surprise results, including contrasting results for Manchester and Liverpool moving top of the table before kicking a ball. I shall also look through my predictions from my previous post, which you can find here: English Premier League Match Day 6 Preview

Weekend Predictions & Final Results

So in terms of the predicted scores, I managed to achieve 4/10 correct this week. In terms of match-winner/loser, I managed to predict 1/10 correctly.

Predicted: Chelsea 2-1 Man City

Result: Chelsea 0-1 Man City

Jesus

This weekend has started so strangely, with Chelsea not only losing at home but also failing to have a shot on target in a match for the first time under Tuchel. Manchester City will be boosted by the victory with two tough games ahead over the next 5 days. Chelsea will take the reality check and with Lukaku still looking menacing they will have better games ahead. Tuchel has worked magic and will keep Chelsea challenging. The pressure City applied to Chelsea though really shows they are still the top team to deal with.

Predicted: Man Utd 2-2 Aston Villa

Result: Man Utd 0-1 Aston Villa

Hause

Quite an unfamiliar sight for Utd fans with Bruno Fernandes missing a penalty, and at Old Trafford. Ronaldo will not be having, and I suspect he will consider pulling rank in future when it comes to decisive penalties. Aston Villa are beginning to look like a proper team this year, and the Grealish money might just propel them into European contention. Utd are hap hazard at the moment and recent defeats in Europe and the Cup coupled with this are showing Ole needs a quick solution.

Predicted: Everton 2-0 Norwich

Result: Everton 2-0 Norwich

Townsend, Doucouré

Rafa is bringing stability back in style for Everton. Fortune favoured the blues in this encounter, who took full advantage of Norwich’s errors. Kabak, on loan at Liverpool last season, will not be happy with his return to Merseyside. Everton are sitting strong and Benitez will be happy with his work so far. Norwich however need to get points on the table, and soon.

Predicted: Leeds 2-1 West Ham

Result: Leeds 1-2 West Ham

Raphina - Firpo Adamés, Antonio

Leeds took the games to West Ham and showed they have attacking talent in abundance. The lack of discipline at the back and the ability of Antonio to deliver gave West Ham a deserved victory. David Moyes has built a strong team and will be hoping to match or better their achievements of last season. Leeds are still a strong unit with a strong manager, but they need to find their feet and get back to winning ways soon.

Predicted: Leicester 3-1 Burnley

Result: Leicester 2-2 Burnley

Vardyx2 - Vardy OG, Cornet

What a game for Vardy, 34 and still making his mark. He knows where the goal is and his finishing is some of the best around. He may not have many years left at the top but has been a talisman for Leicester over his 8 years in the Premier League. Burnley will be delighted with Cornets goal but have the worrisome issue of his injury. Wood thought he had won the game but VAR made the right call.

Predicted: Watford 0-0 Newcastle

Result: Watford 1-1 Newcastle

Sarr - S. Longstaff

As expected Sarr arrived to the rescue for Watford once again. More pressingly though was the atmosphere, as the toon army were cheering there team at 1-0 up, they were also calling for the managers head. An unlucky result for Newcastle to concede with 12 minutes to go, but they are playing good football and should be getting the wins again soon. Watford will feel they were hard done by VAR but Kings goal was rightly chalked off and the points were shared.

Predicted: Brentford 4-0 Liverpool

Result: Brentford 3-3 Liverpool

Pinnock, Janelt, Wissa - Jota, Salah, Jones

A thriller of a game no doubt, and reminders of the Liverpool when Klopp first arrived. Brentford deserve all the credit for their display and not giving up, match Liverpool in as many departments as they could. Alexander Arnold will be disappointed but not dismayed but his performance, having been ill for the previous games. Curtis Jones scored a wonderful goal before his substitution and will hope to add more of them going forward. Both teams deserved a share of the spoils for their efforts. Brentford are catching the eye and might just be everyone’s new favourite underdog team.

Predicted: Southampton 1-2 Wolves

Result: Southampton 0-1 Wolves

Jiménez

What a moment for Jiménez as the Mexican striker scored his first Wolves goal since his head injury 11 months prior. An emotional moment and even sweeter that it proved to be the winner. Southampton need to discover a new source of goals. The sale of Ings was financially good and Armstrong has opened his account for the Saints, but both himself and Adams need to step up to the levels required in the Premier League if Southampton are to have a season without a relation battle.

Predicted: Arsenal 1-1 Tottenham

Result: Arsenal 3-1 Tottenham

Smith Rowe, Aubameyang, Saka - Son

Is Nuno suffering a crises? One might think so after that performance, with Arsenal now ahead of Spurs in the table. Arteta meanwhile has got Arsenal firing and the victory in the North London Derby will only invigorate them further. Talented youngsters are doing the job so far at Arsenal, but an over reliance might be asking too much. The goalkeeper looks settled, as does the defence so all good signs. Tottenham however need to discover a style and identity of attacking football that the fans and Kane crave. They need to do it fast as they are falling down the table.

Predicted: Crystal Palace 2-2 Brighton

Result: Crystal Palace 1-1 Brighton

Zaha - Maypay

Brighton has the chance to go too with a victory, but will be delighted that Maupay cancelled out Zahas penalty. Palace are playing out from the back and Viera has started a strong platform for their possession based style. Brighton made their switch to 4 at the back which allowed them further up the field, and they got their reward for it.
