Predictions
Now for my favorite part, as I go through the latest info regarding player availability, form, and media to predict the scores for this weekend. Remember this is just my fun analysis and should not be taken as advice or a guarantee.
Chelsea - Man City
What a doubleheader opening we have on Saturday! Pep is facing into possibly one of his toughest weeks as a manager with Chelsea followed by PSG and Liverpool away. It will be interesting to see how he lines up against the team that beat him to European glory last season. City have shown some early signs of struggling, with 90 minutes on the clock against Southampton last weekend before a shot on target. Chelsea meanwhile is reaping the rewards of a powerful and mature Lukaku. He will certainly make the City defence work, and I think will be the difference. No offence but I would have spent the Grealish money on Lukaku or similar if I had been in Pep's shoes. A 2-1 home victory for Chelsea, giving Pep plenty of headaches for the week ahead.
Man Utd - Aston Villa
After the disastrous midweeks Utd has had over the past couple of weeks, they will want to get back on track in the league. Ronaldo has shown he can still cut it and will be the focus for Utd going forward. If Sancho can pick up some form and create the numbers he did in Germany, Utd should be a serious contender. Don't be surprised with Ole at the wheel if things go south. Aston Villa has a powerful squad, although Bailey will miss out, I think we will have a very exciting contest. I think Utd will drop points this weekend, even if Ole gets his wish for a penalty, and the match will finish 2-2.
Everton - Norwich
Rafa will want to get Everton back on track, and they have made a decent start to the season. Last weekend and the misadventure in the midweek cup game shows there is still work to do. With James off to Qutar and off the books, Benitez has the players he wants still at the club. Norwich, well they will put up a decent flight but as usual, I think this will be too much for them. I am predicting a 2-0 win for Everton.
Leeds - West Ham
West Ham is looking strong, and with Antonio on form, anything is possible. Bielsa is struggling this season so far with Leeds, and his team has been found exposed against more possessive and dominant teams. The hammers will fancy their chances and I expect them to leave Elland Road with 3 points via a 2-1 victory.
Leicester - Burnley
What's happening to Leicester? They have lost three of their previous four league games and they are struggling to create shots on target, with their tally of 43 is the lowest in the league. Possession will not do it alone for Rodgers team, and Burnley will fancy themselves. I think Leicester is due an upturn in form and this could be their chance. I'm going for a 3-1 Leicester win.
Watford - Newcastle
Newcastle will be depleted this weekend, missing Lascelles and Willock along with Wilson. When they are fit, along with Saint-Maximin, Newcastle has a decent team. Bruce needs to get them on the pitch together and playing. Watford has a lot of hope hanging on Sarr, and rightly so as he is a talent. Will this be a game too far? I don't think either team is showing enough to say they will clearly win, so I am going for a bore 0-0 draw.
Brentford - Liverpool
Bar a shocking result, I think Klopp will be delighted to have this fixture now. A trip to Portugal in midweek along with City visiting Anfield next weekend means this is a perfect opportunity for Liverpool to show they are real contenders again. A scoop on Sky Sports detailed how Liverpool have had 16 or more shots in their last 13 out of 14 League games. Impressive stats, and considering Brentford are newly promoted they will be in for a tough test. Whichever CB pairing Klopp goes for, I don't think Toney will have much of a sniff. 4-0 to Liverpool.
Southampton - Wolves
An interesting match up with two teams still to really stamp down their mark this season. Wolves are accumulating to their new style but they are creating chances, only behind Liverpool and Man City for shots. Southampton has gotten strong results by drawing with both Manchester clubs, so it's tough to split these teams. I'm going to back Wolves to get over the line in a 1-2 victory away from home.
Arsenal - Tottenham
Three wins and three clean sheets mean things are certainly looking better for Arsenal and Arteta. Still uncertain if he is the man to take Arsenal to the next level, the same can be said of Nuno. Spurs were top of the league while Arsenal was bottom after three games. They seem to have switched form, with Spurs struggling and Arsenal on the upturn. It will most likely be a tight match and depends on whether or not Kane turns up. If he does, Spurs for the win, but I think a draw is more likely. 1-1 is my thought on the game.
Crystal Palace - Brighton
Brighton are 4th in the table. Yep! Great start for them, and I think they can maintain it. Crystal Palace have good players and I expect Zaha and Edouard to form a great partnership. Brighton have 4 wins under the belt already and will fancy themselves to continue this form. Great style for a team that should be the other end of the table (or at least not 4th!). Monday night games are always tricky but I think this will also finish even, with 2-2 bring the final score.
Hope you have fun tuning into the matches over the weekend, and no matter who you support let's all enjoy the game.
I really hope you enjoyed the read, have a wonderful day.
Peace. CryptoGod-1.
