I am extremely excited about the Guild of Guardians project. Built on the blockchain, Guild of Guardians will revolutionize mobile gaming. With a strong social aspect, it will allow me to game with friends and contribute to the success of the guild as a whole in a fantasy, RPG setting. And to add to my excitement, Guild of Guardians is truly a play-to-earn game—as my guild of friends conquers in-game challenges we earn resources that can be used to create real-world value. What is not to love about this game?
But how will it work? What is the game flow like?
Guild of Guardians is tentatively scheduled for release in early 2022, so the finer details of game play and exactly what it will look like are not yet known or even set in stone. Luckily, though, we have a good idea of the game flow and what to expect.
Important to note, before getting into the game flow, is that this is not a open-world game. Player characters will venture into dungeons to collect resources, currency, and equipment (I will generally refer to them collectively as resources). Although plans to convert to an open-world game are in consideration.
Guild of Guardians is a social game, ‘guild’ is even in the title, and as such, co-operation within the guild is vital to the gameplay and to individual success. Each player will specialize in a role and only by working together can the challenges of these dungeons be overcome and the best loot recovered. And I am all about that loot.
Speaking of loot, players will always own the content of the game. Once a player takes ownership, they truly own the item and its value. Through game play, players can increase the value of their ownership—Guild of Guardians is truly a play-to-earn experience.
So, gather your guild members and venture into the dungeon where you will overcome challenges by working together and excelling in your role. Each dungeon is unique and contains monsters, bosses, and traps that must be conquered. The dungeons are categorized by level, so that your guild is routinely organized against level-appropriate challenges.
One of the many things that makes Guild of Guardians exciting is that combat in these dungeons relies so much on skill, co-operation, and team synergies. Your guild will need to really work together and consider each other’s strengths and weaknesses if they plan to take on the toughest challenges. Traditional RPG roles like tank, DPS, and healer will find their place here, and will be augmented by faction, class, and elemental bonuses. Every player has their role and can contribute!
Through these adventures you and your guild members will gain some loot!
The resources recovered in the dungeons come in many varieties. Guild of Guardians has hundreds of weapons and pieces of armor just waiting to be found, crafted, and traded- and they provide unique stats and bonuses to your heroes.
As you earn more heroes, they can be merged together to gain a higher-rarity. While common heroes can’t be traded, rarer heroes can, giving intrinsic value to these heroes as they are merged and become rarer. Heroes can also “ascend” and have their level caps increased. Work towards those high-level, legendary heroes!
Crafting materials will also drop in the dungeons and these play an important role in the game and in the economy. Not only can crafting materials be used to upgrade heroes and craft equipment, they can be contributed to the guild where they will create blockchain items that will be automatically placed on the in-game market and sold for profit. This profit will then be split amongst the players, dividing according to the level of contribution.
Read that paragraph again. This is one of the things I am most excited about and where play-to-earn in Guild of Guardians really shines.
And as your guild takes on these challenges, earns those resources, and grows to co-operate and act as a team, your utilization of the resources will allow characters to become stronger and more skilled. Meaning that that next challenge will be harder and the rewards more lucrative.
Together, your guild will face increased dangers and earn greater rewards. Glory and profit await.
