Anyone playing with decentralized finance should know there are high risks. Many of you have probably experienced losses from bad trading decisions, protocol eccentricities, or exploits. I'm sorry to say the odds of a perfect risk-free investment strategy dropping into your lap are astronomically low, so if you aren't willing to take some risks, it would be wise to avoid trading cryptocurrency.
What you can do is assess how risky an investment decision is and whether it's worth the potential reward. I think we here can agree that blockchain technology has a lot of potential, and I know of good projects which have had enormous success. Look for a project which is functional and valuable to people; these will have a much better chance of success.
"Post Public Token release Business and Tech strategy" by OpenDAO's Moresh Kokane on Medium
OpenDAO has been running its open market and cashbox protocols for months, during which they also had a hackathon to test the security of their code. On November 26th, the $OPEN governance token was released on Uniswap along with rewards for liquidity providers.
When the stablecoin launches and as more kinds of collateral are available, $OPEN holders will be able to vote on additions to the Open Market, as well as changes to fees and other protocol functions. While the goal is the lending platform and stablecoin, the governance token serves some purposes of keeping the stablecoin stable.
How does this all relate to you? Well, you know how you can put money in a traditional bank account and earn a small APY? They are able to do this by lending out your money to other people, collecting fees and interest, and passing on a small amount of their profits to you. By staking on the Open Market of OpenDAO, you will have a transparent view of your money, how much it's earning, and where it's going.
Essentially, you could use it as a DeFi bank, where you store stablecoins. They would earn very competitive interest rates and you can pull out at anytime. No waiting for bank hours because your card is declined, or going through overcomplicated processes to transfer money to another account.
OpenDAO's philosophical approach of finding assets can lead to more productive and valuable assets than other platforms have been able to implement thus far. Once real-world assets are added, it will become an increasingly more consistent way to earn a steady APY.
