CRYPTO-CURRENCIES  DISRUPTING CONVENTIONAL BUSINESS MODELS

CRYPTO-CURRENCIES  DISRUPTING CONVENTIONAL BUSINESS MODELS

By ubiodee | Crypto-Stories | 12 Jun 2020

Unlike many, my journey into the cryptocurrency world was more serendipitous than deliberate, I have always heard about cryptocurrencies, blockchain, bitcoin, etherium, wallets but for me, these were bogus words, which were too abstract for my comprehension. My little attempt to check up on what these terms meant on google only increased my confusion and my delusion of the concept, so obviously, the best I could do was distant myself from what I didn't understand. Sometime last month, I mistakenly clicked on a cryptocurrency YouTube channel, thanks to YouTube's random algorithm which fortunately new crypto-powered platforms like LBRY are helping solve. But that single mistake heralded my journey into the world of cryptocurrency.

I got to realize that the basic concept behind cryptocurrency was the concept of disruption, to challenge the old ways of doing things, to put the power back to the people, which obviously is where the power truly belongs, and to democratize wealth.  This disruption as the basic principle behind crypto is the reason for unprecedented business models like STEEMIT, BRAVE, PUBLISH0X, LBRY, etc. Needless saying I took time to go through all the examples cited in that YouTube video, and of course is the reason why am a publisher at PUBLISH0X today.  Having taken time to understand the principle behind most cryptocurrency-powered platforms, am really afraid that most conventional businesses who were leaders of web 3.0 are hanging on a thread except they begin to adopt the democratized and egalitarian concepts that are behind blockchains. In my honest opinion, I don't see Google browser being powerful in the next 10 years, because of the disruption from Brave, in my opinion, Medium will not be powerful in the next 5 years thanks to the competition from Publish0x, in my opinion, YouTube will begin to fade thanks to LBRY and Facebook will not survive the tempo Hive blog and Steemit is bringing except she adopts similar model.

This is my assessment not just for the companies mentioned here, but for most conventional companies who are not adopting the disruption approaches most of these crypto-powered platforms are adopting.
