In the beginning of Bitcoin, almost anybody could easily generate 30-40 by running mining software on any computer. Now, they say almost 87% of all Bitcoin is controlled by 1% of the market. Well this is where Pi Network is seeking to make a change. The project, created by two Stanford PHD graduates aims at allowing anybody to easily generate Pi from a smartphone without draining its battery or risk overheating.

You begin as a pioneer, earning .20 pi/hr 

By inviting friends, you move into a contributor role and with each friend you increase the amount you earn by .04 pi/hr. 

Once you build a trusted network of friends, you become an ambassador and earn an additional .09 pi/hr

The basis behind this idea is to create a strong network, that cannot be controlled by a limited amount of people. This is open to everybody. 

There are currently over 8 million pioneers on the Pi network. When this reaches 10 million the rate of mining will be halved again. There is also the possibility that mining for new users is stopped permanently. 

Pi Network does not have a current value nor can it be traded because there is no established blockchain. The project is in Phase 2 - The Testnet but the project will go live in Phase 3 and the Pi will be given a value. There is currently no estimations for what this value will be, but with Pi only being generated by mining there is a good change it could be quite valuable. 

I am not affiliated with Pi network, I just found the project to be very interesting and something that could be huge in the future. It takes less than 5 seconds to start mining and you only have to restart the app every 24 hours. Just let it run in the background and go about your day.
