For those who just want to know about the faucet
Tezos foundation made a faucet that allows any user to claim 0.01 XTZ every 48 hours.
All you have to do is:
- Enter your tezos address (note that every address starts with “tz”, so ensure that you enter the right address or an error will be thrown!);
- After that you just need to enter your national prefix followed by your phone number and then press “SEND TEZ”;
- Last thing you need to do is enter the code that you’ll receive via SMS.
If everything goes as should, you’ll receive your 0.01 XTZ in moments (if you use Coinbase, you’ll need to wait some time, as it will credit your XTZ after 60 confirmations.

What is Tezos?
Tezos is a PoS (Proof of Stake) blockchain started in 2018 in Switzerland.
What makes Tezos unique and worth of attention from developers and investors is its ability to modify its rules causing no or very light disruption to the network;
This makes Tezos a very flexible blockchain that is capable to adapt to external factors faster than many other blockchains.

Why is the faucet good for us?
Since Tezos is a Proof of Stake blockchain, the fact that we are claiming free XTZ from the faucets allows us to slowly start staking the coin for free and earn some.
Don’t expect to get rich with it, since you will be getting a little more that 1 cent per claim (at the time of this article it’s exactly 0.0163 USD per claim)
To be able to start staking XTZ you will need just one, so after 100 claims (200 days) you will have enough to start staking and passively earn ~7% yearly.
This means that you will need to invest some money if you really want to earn something, but the faucet will defeinitely give you a little boost!
