For those still keeping their hopes up on the Xeggex hack and related fallout, the frequent drip of announcements on the Xeggex Discord seem to be a lifeline.
Not sure what technicality is involved myself, but getting a website up and running again that was already built and designed shouldn't take weeks to bring back online. In fact, it's a simple matter of reconnecting the page to new addresses on the backend, which is where the actual work is occurring in terms of change, usually. However, that said, it seems to be a Grand Canyon challenge.
And then, the next day, the obvious part is finally disclosed which is, unlike the website being the problem, it's really about re-connecting the Xeggex account databases.
The interesting thing about this post is, unless the data was tampered with, there shouldn't have been a loss of data. Ideally, a disconnect of the account server database should have simply cut off access versus causing a corruption of the actual data. And, even if that was the case, standard server protection should have had a backup redundancy of the database in place. That's practically gauranteed by any kind of major cloud server support system like AWS, for example. So, the "loss" of 20 percent of the account email addresses infers there was actual data corruption, or...
...the postings are just a delay tactic, which arrangements continue to be made to move the remaining assets off to somewhere else in digital Toto-land. If that's the case, the culprits are quite aware the various blockchains are being watched, so they would have to move quickly and in synchronous fashion to make transfers fast before the general customer population reacts again. While cutting off the Xeggex discord chat did block some communication, it's running fast and heavy in other discord servers for the affected meme tokens.
I would like to hope and be optimistic that Xeggex will come back, but the pattern of "delays" is following the same script as Celsius and Mashinsky (who ultimately plead guilty to wire fraud in US federal court in 2024).
I love how AI bots can't spell worth shit, even when you write it for them.
