So in a word NO! The old adage of "Do Your Own Research" (DYOR) has never been more true than in the Cryptoverse! I'm sure many of you have seen the news from the UK concerning Kim Kardashian, aka will do anything to remain in the public eye, concerning her promotion of a possible fraud crypto. Why do we care what people think when they have absolutely no knowledge/training in the subject and are often payed (a lot sometimes) just to promote a product with no clue or care as to what it is? I for one do not put any stock in their thoughts, I value the opinions/thoughts of contributors to this and other websites where people actually doing something discuss their experience!
You may have also seen the ICO for a token called "coinfluence". It sounds good in whitepaper but I won't be contributing to it any time soon either. It seems like a good idea, use influencers to promote useful new crypto projects, but when money talks, these people will say anything and I don't see this being the level playing field for all useful crypto projects as promised.
Sorry for the rant, trying to keep it short, but I hate to see the effects on the crypto market, and impending attempts to control crypto in the US. In the end, truly DeFi Crypto will prevail even as these so called "influencers" muddy the water for the rest of us.
If anything this is another good lesson the DYOR and turn off the social media influencers and Crypto-on!
