Nano vs Pi - the free ones

Over the past few years I’ve been exploring different ways to earn cryptocurrency without directly buying it, and two projects that stood out to me are Nano and Pi.

Both are interesting in their own ways because I actually earned them for free — just through apps and simple tasks.

Pi Coin is probably the easiest one to get started with. I earned it using the Pi mining app. It’s not traditional mining like Bitcoin — you simply check in daily and the app keeps the network running through a trust-based system. It’s designed to make crypto accessible to everyday users, even people with no technical knowledge. Over time Pi has built a very large community around the world, which is one of its biggest strengths. The coin is already listed on some major exchanges like Kraken, and although it isn’t available on Binance yet, the project keeps growing.

Nano, on the other hand, is the one I personally prefer. I mainly earned Nano by completing tasks on platforms like PlayNano and TipNano. Things like watching videos, doing small online tasks, or claiming small rewards add up surprisingly fast. It’s a simple way to collect crypto without putting money in.

What really makes Nano stand out to me is the technology behind it. Nano transactions are instant and completely feeless. That means you can send even the smallest amounts without worrying about losing value to fees. Because of that, it’s incredibly practical for micro-payments and everyday transfers.

Both projects have established themselves in their own communities and have gained a level of trust over time. They each approach crypto from a different angle:

- Pi focuses on accessibility and building a massive user network.

- Nano focuses on efficiency, speed, and zero transaction fees.

For me personally, Nano wins because of how fast and seamless it is to use. Sending value instantly with no fees feels like what cryptocurrency was always meant to be.

Still, both are great examples of how you can get involved in crypto without investing money upfront — just by participating in the ecosystem.
