I've been active in the cryptocurrency space since at least 2018. I've written a lot of articles, and I have been involved with a lot of really neat projects. However, I recently realized a problem: there wasn't an easy way for me to quantify my crypto experiences or provide an objective credential that demonstrated the knowledge that I have. So, I started looking for cryptocurrency and blockchain certifications. I ended up taking the Cardano Blockchain Certified Associate exam, and I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the instructional material and the course design.
Strengths
- The course is incredibly well designed. It consists of about 8 and 1/2 hours of video lectures, practice questions, and an end of course recap that helped me estimate whether or not I was ready to take the real exam
- There is a strong alignment between the training material and the exam itself. I can't disclose specific exam questions, but I can say that the free training material did a great job preparing me for the exam. In fact, the score that I received on the practice exam for the training material was virtually identical to my score on the real exam.
- The exam is proctored. In my opinion, this is one of the best aspects of the course. To earn this credential, I had to go to an in-person testing center that verified my identity and insured that I didn't cheat during the exam. I think this is a huge advantage that differentiates this exam from many of the other online exams that can often be taken at home with open notes.
- The course, but not the exam, is free. Although there is a fee to take the actual exam, the entire course training material is available online for free. This makes the course a great option for people who want to learn about cryptocurrency from an authoritative source but don't want to have to pay for an exam.
Weakness
Overall I thought the course was very well designed, and I'm really stretching to identify some weaknesses. That being said, my one complaint is that the AI generated instructional videos consistently mispronounced the word "Cardano." It didn't affect the quality of the course for the learning experience, but I did find it a little bit ironic that the one mistake in the AI pronunciation was the course's namesake

Additional Consideration
Despite having "Cardano" in the title this course isn't just about Cardano. It covers a wide range of topics including different consensus algorithms, different cryptocurrencies, and the history blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies. Although there is a clear emphasis on Cardano, the course builds a wide base of cryptocurrency knowledge, and I didn't feel like the course was just a sales pitch for Cardano.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the Cardano Blockchain Certified Associate course fills a unique role within the cryptocurrency space. It provides an authoritative credential that demonstrates the holder has an intermediate knowledge up some of the most relevant topics in blockchain and cryptocurrency.
