The Beam developer team, the privacy-oriented cryptocurrency that uses the MimbleWimble protocol, introduced the first official Android keychain.
The application can now be downloaded from the Google Play Store and is available for any device that uses Android 6.0 or higher. The developer Guy Corem reported on Twitter that, through this app, it is possible to run a complete Beam node on mobile devices without affecting the performance of the battery.
However, this keychain or wallet still has some limitations. The publication of the team indicates that the restoration of the funds can only be executed in the desktop application, so it is necessary to enter the seed code of the mobile portfolio in the PC.
In addition, when making transactions from the mobile portfolio to the desktop portfolio, it is necessary to use version 2.0 of the PC application. Finally, the developers point out that the keychain will choose a random node to connect, although it is possible that a specific node can be selected in future versions.
Apple users will have to wait for the iOS version. On March 31, the team published a beta version of the application for this operating system, but clarify that it can only be used in the test network, to protect the funds in case of potential code errors.
Recall that in the month of January, shortly after the launch of Beam's main network, the official desktop keychain presented a critical vulnerability, although the team assured that no user was affected.
