Hey everyone, and welcome back! For today I'd like to start my post with a little bit of humor.

It's funny because it's true... So anyway, I walked through a dark alley, in the pouring rain to get to and from the movie theater tonight, and luckily my parents weren't murdered in the process.

Sorry, Bruce... I had to.

Okay now that we have gotten that out of the way, let's talk about this Batman movie because there has been a lot of hate going around online about it, and there has been a lot of unhappy critics going off about how "it's so terrible" and how "It was so awful" and blah blah blah. And well all I have to say is that you have to see it for yourself to form an honest opinion. When the film began, I had such low expectations. Now it's possible that maybe those low expectations may have actually helped to strengthen my overall opinion of the film. Or maybe it was actually just a good movie from the start... I don't know. Perhaps a mix of both of those possibilities?

Regardless, I really did love this movie! It was 3 hours long but was able to hold my attention the entire time. As for the story, I feel like I had seen a lot of similarities to the Gotham TV show on the CW/Netflix (which is my absolute favorite DC show). And what I mean by that, is how we got to see more of a younger Bruce. In the film, this version of Bruce has only officially been The Batman for about 2 years now. We get to see beloved villains such as The Penguin and The Riddler and even The Joker as the movie foreshadows all hell breaking loose with a decent amount of ARKHAM'S SUPERVILLAINS being introduced/established across the city. And when I say across the city, I mean everywhere. We have bad guys in jail, in the courts, in the precinct, in the streets, literally everywhere. I think that Bruce will have his hands tied in these next few films for sure.

As for the so-called "controversial casting" of Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman and Robert Pattinson as Batman... I didn't really have much of a problem with it. Vampire boy (Twilight's Robert Pattinson) did pretty damn good in my opinion. I think he really did nail Bruce's personality and outlook on things in the city. There was a really interesting scene where Bruce looks at a freshly made orphan and you can see how badly he just wants to tell this kid that he can relate to the loss of his parents. But since he was dressed as the Batman he just kinda stared at the child and was just in shock. I thought that was really nicely done and had a great deal of depth behind it.

And as for Catwoman... Look the bottom line is that this character has been brown-skinned and white-skinned in not only previous movies but also in older comics and current comics... So this was really nothing new to see a black actress playing The Catwoman! And like really... who cares... As long as she is a sex symbol, it is all good. And I'd say that she was definitely a sex symbol.

Flexible and in the black skin-tight suit... MEEEOOOOWW.

The main plot with the Riddler was phenomenal to me. I seriously think they upgraded this villain in this movie because The Riddler was always kind of corny and brightly colored and not very scary at all. This take on the Riddler was much much darker and morbid. The Riddler kept comparing the Batman to himself as they both were very disturbed and they both wanted to bring change to the city, they just had different approaches to the game.

In the end, Batman leaves us with a lesson that he had learned from the events of the movie. He says something about how he realizes that he has had more of an effect on the city than he had previously thought and that maybe vengeance isn't the correct pathway to travel down, as he had simply shown people that an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

Overall, I think this film surprised me and definitely makes me curious as to see where the next movies will go. It had some great fight scenes, flying scenes, racing scenes, and so on. It was really badass. I do recommend that you go and see this movie if you haven't already. It was fun to watch.
