This last week Brave continued it march along the Brave 2.0 Roadmap with the rollout of Brave Talk. While the 2.0 Roadmap released at the end of February 2021 had a lot to unpack in it I personally was unsure how much of what they wanted to accomplish they would be able to. While Brave has been a great browser for me to use personally I was a little concerned about how the utility of Brave was going to be expanded beyond what it had already reached. Brave also seemed to really partner with only a small niche of blockchain players and that concerned me as well because adaptation was going to get stalled out.
The Brave Team though has marched a long at an incredible pace. Not only did they increase utility on Brave but them blew up with partnerships from Unstoppable Domains to Binance Smart Chain and even Splinterlands! These partnerships, I personally used one with Uplands allowed me to get a kick start in the game with extra tokens! That is not all though as they have continued work on the Brave Wallet that has soft launched I would say as it does not have all of the functionality yet it will. A privacy focused search engine was acquired and launched, Brave News was launched, and Brave Swap is even available though the number of tokens you can exchange your BAT for is also still rather limited as it too is undergoing what I would call a soft launch.
Now when I saw Brave Talk launched I was shocked as I did not expect a Zoom like video chat service to also launch! What is amazing is right now all of the calls are unlimited and free while still being privacy focused and secure! I have not tried out Brave Talk as well I do not really video conference anyone at all it is still an amazing addition! An important thing to note is that only the person setting up the call needs to have Brave the people invited do not need it! Now like most things there is a premium version for group calls as only 1v1 calls are free but within the premium version there are additional features included like secure call recordings, the ability to host 100's on a call and even hosting tools like password protection for the link and the ability to mute others.
It is crazy to see all that Brave has launched this year and really the different legs or avenues they have taken to branch out. With the Brave Wallet and DEX you will have the ability to use them instead of say MetaMask and Uniswap. With the Brave News feature you do not need to use Google News and with the search engine you also don't need to use the Google search engine or even DuckDuckGo for what it is worth! They are finally building the structure of the building after laying a fantastic foundation and I cannot wait to see how they continue to grow and thrive!
They are truly bring security back to people who need it and are looking like they will play a vital roll in an inevitable bridge from Web2.0 to Web3.0 where decentralization and privacy reign free again! It will take time of course for the full population to move but when features like this of popular internet tools are being added it helps speed up the process and smooth over the transition for different users!
