When Publish0x added SPOT I have to admit I was pretty confused. While I will be the first to say that I do not devote 100% of my life to cryptocurrency or blockchain technology it does consume a pretty large chunk of my time. I had never heard of SPOT and even when I first looked it up there was not much information on it. It was only because of Twitter I was able to figure out what it was and I have to admit I am more than pleased with what I learned. 

The first big thing for me was learning that the development team behind the Ampleforth ecosystem was behind it. As skeptical as I once was of Ampleforth I have come to really appreciate it and enjoy watching it build-out. I also was able to get a fairly nice amount of FORTH from that airdrop, my first one I might mention, which also helped me come to understand and appreciate what was being created. 

One issue that while key to AMPL's initial and now continued success was that it was a rebasing or elastic crypto so the supply would be adjusted to try and keep it within a certain range for token holders. This addition and subtraction from supplies while fantastic for its success of it did affect how it would be adopted by others in the crypto sphere. While wAMPL attempted to address it by taking away the rebasing idea and limiting the wAMPL supply to only 10,000,000 tokens it still did not address the stability aspect because AMPL could be at $1.20 and wAMPL could be at $7.20 due to the demand of wAMPL being so much higher. 

Ampleforth's development team continued to work to address this and thus SPOT was created. SPOT's purpose was to "act" more like a stablecoin than AMPL by stripping away the supply volatility. At the same time, it was not going to be set within a certain price but instead was designed to float in a certain range. The range was and continues to be within AMPL's range without directly following it. This has resulted in SPOT maintaining a value between $1.15 to $1.18 per token since its launch. Being able to maintain a token price range is key for the future success of the crypto and a fantastic thing to see as it will help make it more and more attractive for those in the crypto space to look into not only SPOT but the Ampleforth ecosystem which benefits everyone! 

Creating this store of value in the Ampleforth ecosystem is a fantastic next step that fits in really well. Not all of the documentation has been published on the Ampleforth website though which does give me some hesitancy but with contracts deployed and available to be seen it is something that is transparent so they are not really able to hide anything. I am not sure what Ampleforths next step or product will be. To their credit, they have successfully built out the different products that were going to be necessary for their ecosystem. Now I imagine they will sit back and hold votes via their governance token to adjust things as the market continues this rebound.
