Previously, when someone wanted to tip a content creator using Brave they could only do so using the BAT token. While this was done to increase usage of the token I am not all that sure it ever really took off and thus in the current landscape Brave created an unnecessary barrier for those who would like to tip a content creator. I could be completely wrong and maybe tons of people do use this feature but I know in all my years of using Brave (since 2018) I have never once used the tipping function.
For the most part over the last few years, for better or worse Brave has not focused on their Brave Creators product and I really cannot recall the last time that an update was released that pertained to this side of Brave. Instead Brave focused most of their attention and resources on the user end of the Brower which I do think they have been extremely successful in doing as the Brower usage has grown considerably while also rolling out new and innovative features that continue to maintain the user's preference of privacy. With the recent rollout of Brave's new decentralized protocol to distribute BAT called Boomerang which you can read about here. It only made sense for them to roll out a Creators update and boy have they in a huge way.
Creators on their creator dashboard can now add their Ethereum address and their Solana address to receive these two tokens as well! This also allows creators to receive wBAT on Solana as well. While this might not seem to be the biggest step for Brave it is huge and more often than not when they make a change like this soon enough they add more and more and more so this sets up for huge growth in the coming months! To tip a creator this way you just have to click on the Web3 wallet option at the bottom and bam you can connect and tip the creator!
