It seems like the last week of February Brave has been going into overdrive announcing upgrades that are now in effect as well as improvements that are beginning to roll out. This week alone we have seen Leo get a boost, self-custody of BAT rewards begin to roll out and Brave's Research team with academic collaborators design a new framework to guarantee that machine learning models are trained privately. That is a heck of a lot and we still have a couple of days left!
While I personally do not use Brave's Native built-in crypto wallet I have heard from some people who have and they have had nothing but good things to say about their experience. Today they announced that Brave Wallet now supports Bitcoin which I feel is a huge step forward for the wallet as it is really becoming a catchall for the different blockchains. From Ethereum to Solana and now even Bitcoin the Brave Dev team are really trying to touch all the bases and connect all the dots. Something important to note is that this integration will also come fully equipped to send and receive from all types of Bitcoin address including Legacy, Nested SegWit, Native SegWit, and Taproot therefore ensuring compatibility with thrid-party wallets.
This update was a welcome surprise in all honesty. I figured we would see some sort of wallet movement soon with the announcement of the self-custody BAT option but I did not have it pegged to be Bitcoin integration. To me this seems like something the Dev team identified with the booming BTC price and then moved quickly to address as to help make Brave Wallet more and more useful to crypto users.
