Brave has recently announced the progress it has made on its roadmap 2.0 plan and progress they have made! The team had previously announced a native wallet one that should/will replace Uphold and a decentralized exchange or DEX among many other features. Luckily they have not only been working on these objectives but also other issues that have arisen as time has gone on.
The Wallet
A ton of technical work has been accomplished with the wallet. They have finalized internal specs and created the keyring necessary for it to be both secure and functional. Within the blog which you can find here, they have a mockup of the proposed wallet and I love the look. It is simple and easy to navigate and everything is in one place. One thing that really stuck out to me was that this wallet WILL be on iOS.
Due to the distribution of BAT being deemed a violation of the App Store the iOS version of the Brave Browser no longer supports the payouts. Because of this, I was a little concerned that the development of the iOS version would fall behind that of the desktop and Andriod. Luckily though with this announcement, it is not and they are going to continue to develop it! Hopefully, the App Store changes to allow for the distribution of BAT but knowing Apple who knows.
In regards to the DEX
This seems to be playing second fiddle to the wallet right now which it really should as the wallet and BAT being sent there instead of Uphold will be extremely freeing! The two different things that have been done have really been very basic technical work on the APIs and a draft of the UI API was created. Not much but a start and it does show they are continuing to make moves!
Other things nailed down
By far the biggest thing that they accomplished was easily the partnership with the Binance Smart Chain or BSC! It will be interesting to see if they will move BAT to BSC or maybe have two different blockchains for it. They have also created an ambassador partnership program to continue to bring new people to the web browser. Finally, they have continued to add more partnerships with NFT companies/projects. With Splinterlands using BAT resulted in a user getting a discount and they have released some joint NFTs with Gala Games.
This is really good to see and read. You can through the blog post above actually follow them along with the wallet build via GitHub so there is a really big transparency view there! Hopefully, they continue to build things as fast as they have. These are huge things for the project and will make Brave an even better browser than it already is!
