Network activity can make a convincing headline. More transfers, lower fees and a fuller app ecosystem all suggest that a chain is gaining traction. The more difficult question appears after that first impression: which part of the system receives the economic benefit when usage rises?
Ethereum puts that question in plain view. Its roadmap continues, staking participation has grown and many Ethereum users now transact through lower-cost L2 environments. Yet the ETH market analysis describes a period in which ETH had fallen more than 60% from its August 2025 price, alongside debates over reduced fee revenue and a slower burn rate.
Cheap transactions are useful to people using applications. They also change the numbers behind ETH’s supply dynamics, because the burn mechanism depends on transaction fees. Ethereum’s wider ecosystem still relies on the base layer for settlement, blob space and security, though the scale and durability of the resulting demand for ETH remains a live economic question.
After selling his ETH position following nine years of holding it, David Hoffman, co-founder of Bankless, described this split without dismissing Ethereum’s technical prospects:
I am massively bullish Ethereum. I expect Ethereum as a network to do exceptionally well from here on out. I think only a marginal amount of that success will be reflected in ETH.
TRON makes the same question easier to isolate because its main use case is already clear. The chain carries substantial stablecoin activity, especially transfers involving USDT, and its low-cost routes have become familiar to users moving funds between wallets. In our TRON market analysis, that activity forms the backdrop rather than the conclusion: active accounts, transaction volume, USDT-TRC20 flows, liquidity and market conditions all shape the outlook for TRX.
Jane S., the author of the analysis, frames the unresolved issue as the relationship between network use and the native asset:
TRON runs a huge share of the world’s stablecoin transfers, so the real debate is whether that usage ever shows up in the token’s price.
The neutral scenario in the analysis allows for a network that remains heavily used while TRX largely moves with the wider market. Stablecoin transfers can be valuable to a range of participants, including wallet users, payment-focused applications and liquidity venues. The relevance to TRX depends on the mechanisms that connect the token to that activity, including demand created by fees, staking or other protocol-level functions.
The arrangement is more explicit in Horizen, where the roles of the assets are deliberately separate. The current ZEN overview describes Horizen Mainnet as an EVM-compatible Layer 3 built on Base: ETH pays for transactions, whereas ZEN serves governance, staking and supported applications. A person moving funds across Horizen Mainnet needs ETH for gas, while a ZEN holder who wants to stake bridges the token from Base to the mainnet. The economic role of ZEN therefore rests on participation in these activities, not on every transaction occurring on the network.
That distinction can disappear in a long asset catalogue. Our latest listing update introduced ten assets and routes across tokenized equities, AI infrastructure, DeFi and Layer 2 projects, including SPCXx, MegaETH and FLUID. A listing makes an asset available to more users, which changes access and potential liquidity. It does not answer how, or whether, activity in the underlying product will create demand for the token over time.
The broader crypto stack has many places where activity can produce value. A TechTimes overview of crypto infrastructure providers identifies custody, liquidity, API connectivity, node services and payment rails as major layers behind crypto products. In a system built from those services, a rise in use may benefit an application team, a validator, a sequencer, a liquidity provider or the end user. Protocol design determines whether the native token also has a defined role in that distribution.
Ethereum, TRON and Horizen offer different versions of the same problem. The details worth following sit beyond raw transaction counts: fee flows, supply changes, gas requirements, staking rules and the reasons a participant needs the native asset at all. They show where the relationship between a growing network and its token becomes easier to understand.
