Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin, recently announced that it has reserves worth $5.4 billion and has recorded profits exceeding those of Goldman Sachs.
These reserves mainly serve to guarantee the stability of the value of USDT (keeping it pegged to the dollar), satisfy the ransom requests of users who want to convert the stablecoin into the Dollar and to protect the stablecoin from speculative attacks.
The notable performances are driven by:
- Holdings in US Treasury bonds, an investment considered "safe" and "stable";
- Gold, the safe haven par excellence which retains its value over time;
- Bitcoin, the most widespread cryptocurrency which had a crazy return throughout 2023 and early 2024 thanks above all to the approvals of Spot ETFs and the approaching halving.

Furthermore, net profits in 2022 of $6.2 billion, investments of $640 million in sustainable energy, Bitcoin mining and intelligence have further influenced the supply of USDT from 83 to 92 billion tokens in a short period.
Whatever you want to say, Tether confirms itself as a significant financial power on the global scene, attracting more and more interest from institutional investors.
Its financial strength and commitment to innovation make it a key player in the future of finance.
