Airdrops Printer Go Brrrrr! Cloning Projects for Fast Money

If you have followed my prior postings on an airdrop in progress (or NOT in progress, depending how you look at it):

Anatomy of a New Token Offering - What Do You Think?

Scam or "High Quality Project": 22,000 Telegram Members Get a Show

then you know I have been getting some schadenfreude watching an existing airdrop where issues about a group that has taken the brand, name and former name of a globally known international company, motivated thousands of people to blast social media with stories of the fantastic team, great project plan, and excellent technology (although none of that is detailed on their web site or any place else), and created a rubbernecker experience on their telegram channel as the date their tokens were supposed to materialize in their wallets slipped past.

The participants who are wondering if it is a scam are doing this in unison not because the organization is obviously not associated with the global concern, has a fake New York address on the web site, and has branding that means nothing and is explained nowhere: "The world's best complete USA dedicated token". It is only a scam because they aren't getting their free money so they can immediately withdraw/sell it.

You may wonder: is this a fluke, an aberration, an exception?

I would like to introduce you to DryCake SwapPLEASE NOTE: NOT NOT NOT a recommendation.

Let's look at the branding of this airdrop, likewise in progress.

From the web site: "Let's make the world with BSC and DeFi" < What does this mean?

From Medium: DryCake "offers a modularized and modern way to give benefits to all Involved users. It aims to bring businesses and developers together to solve real-world problems." < Could it be any less specific?

From their Youtube channel: Let's make with Decentralised to feel Centralise. [sic] < What does THIS mean? See below ...

37,000 people on their Telegram channel ...

What does this have to do in common with RELX?

First, you could take the postings on the two telegram channels, mix them up, put them back, and not notice any difference.

Second, both airdrops ... both recently registered domain names from NameCheap, a few days apart ...

  • The domain name https://drycake.finance/ was registered with NameCheap 2021-02-07T17:37:35Z
  • The domain name https://reedelsevier.digital was registered with NameCheap 2021-02-09T15:51:13Z

Third, people are asking if they are scams, and pointing out other projects that seem to be suspiciously similar.

What's different?

DryCake actually has a whitepaper, although the link from the DryCake website takes you to Whitepaper.com, rather than their whitepaper, which is available as a Google Doc. It is available from their Facebook page. The whitepaper has pictures of their team and some plans.

There is no phone or physical address on the DryCake web site, as opposed to the potentially made-up NY address for our other friends. Of course, there is a notice that the "Website is undermaintains." [sic]

Airdrop Printer Go Brrr

I know this is only the tip of the iceberg. The DryCake Telegram channel has links to other recent airdrops gone awry, and people saying they are the same/similar - HardPalSwap and Viperliquidity, which were supposed to have had their airdrops LAST week. Their social media accounts are gone, although the magic of the Internet exposes a lot of their content. And Viperliquidity's web site is still around - https://viperliquidity.xyz/ - and what is their branding?

Be Decentralised and Feel Centralised

Sound familiar?
