The media found another Bitcoin maker. But with the evidence, as usual, there are problems

There is definitely no drawback in the versions of who really is behind the name of Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto. The cryptocurrency community is offering a number of famous people for this "position", including David Chaum, Nick Szabo, Adam Beck and even Charlie Lee, but there is still no answer that would satisfy the majority. Now the list of applicants has been expanded, and another candidate for the title of creator of "digital gold" suddenly became a completely new man with a very rich and curious biography.

As investinblockchain.com writes in its investigation, the pseudonym of Satoshi Nakamoto may be behind the 46-year-old Paul Solotshi Calder Le Roux. Closely connected to the criminal world, he is also known as a man who created a data encryption software called E4M back in 1999. In addition, it is believed that Paul Solotoshi had his hand in the creation of TrueCrypt, another data encryption package based on the E4M code.

Le Roux allegedly used passports from a number of countries. The photo above shows a scan of his passport of a citizen of the Democratic Republic of the Congo

In the past, in addition to smuggling drugs, he was involved in the illegal sale of weapons, gold mining and even working as a realtor and logger. At the same time, he was also (!) an informant for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

"Le Roux is currently in an American prison, serving a sentence for organizing and ordering the murder of six people," he says on his Wikipedia page.

Le Roux has been in prison since 2012, and as the publication suggests, this may indirectly explain why Satoshi Nakamoto's original Bitcoins are still not in motion.

However, if this version may seem a bit attracted, there is another interesting fact, which may be in favor of the fact that it is Le Roux who is Satoshi Nakamoto. In particular it is noted that he has certain connections with the Australian programmer and businessman Craig Wright. The latter is known for the fact that for several years now he has been trying to prove in vain that he is Satoshi Nakamoto, and also launched his own project (Bitcoin Cash fork) - Bitcoin Satoshi Vision (Bitcoin SV).

Okay, Le Rue's name is mentioned in Clayman v. Wright's sensational case. Recall that in February 2018 Ira Kleiman, brother of the late computer forensics expert and mathematician Dave Kleiman, who is also associated with the creation of Bitcoin, sued Craig Wright, accusing him of embezzling about 1.1 million BTC, which allegedly belonged to Kleiman.

However, the court documents revealed a rather curious detail: it is about confidential information that in the past Wright was not only connected with the criminal world, but also was an informant of intelligence services, having been involved in the arrest of a number of large criminal figures.

For this reason, it is believed that some of the material in the Wright's request for concealment granted by the court has been redacted so as to prevent these persons from learning of his involvement in their detention. However, it is likely that the person who edited the document overlooked one of the footnotes that refers to Le Roux.

In particular, there is a link to the mentioned page on Wikipedia, which may indicate that Le Roux is one of the persons from whom Wright can expect trouble.

According to one of the rather curious versions that appeared a few weeks ago on Reddit, Craig Wright worked for Le Rue, and after the arrest of the last Australian with the help of Dave Kleiman got partial access to wallets that store a million bitcoins. Unfortunately for Wright, he doesn't have full access because his private keys are locked securely in place with the aforementioned TrueCrypt software.

It is also said that Wright's longstanding business partner Kelvin Air decided to help and launched several data centers, directing their computing power to cracking Le Roux's passwords. Officially, the company acts as a mining farm, but it is assumed that this is a screen behind which there is a completely different activity.

Wright's desire to gain access to these coins is understandable, because in addition to a huge fortune, he could also legitimize himself as a creator of Bitcoin.

The screen above is part of the document in Clayman v. Wright, which contains an Australian statement that he has TrueCrypt encrypted files with the same original bitcoins in his possession. According to Wright himself, it may take five to ten years to crack them, but the main intrigue is that these files may not actually have belonged to Kleiman, but to Le Roy.

The publication also cites other facts that it believes may be in favor of Le Roux being the creator of Bitcoin. In particular, in addition to a similar name (Paul Solotoshi), we are talking about a similar style of writing to Satoshi Nakamoto and a good command of the C++ programming language on which Bitcoin is written.

It is also noteworthy that in creating the E4M, Le Roux wrote a kind of manifesto that is also very close to Satoshi Nakamoto's ideas, including the emphasis on the need for strong cryptography as a means of protecting individual rights and freedoms.

Another "certificate" on which the publication relies relates to the chronological sequence of events. It is known that in early 2011, Satoshi Nakamoto disappeared in order to, in his own words, "do other things". At about the same time, Le Roux withdrew from his programming activities, focusing on criminal activity in the area of illegal drug distribution.

Also mentioned is a very interesting entry on one of the forums, made back in 2002, seven years before the appearance of Bitcoin. It described the concept of "virtual p2p-banking", which also has several similarities with bitcoin. The author's IP address led to the Netherlands, the country where Le Roux lived for some time.

However, there are some inaccuracies in the investinblockchain investigation. In particular, the edition suggests that the original Bitcoin code included a client for online poker. There is no evidence of this, and one of the few references to poker in the context of the Bitcoin source code is present in Breakermag's April 2018 article. It is possible that this is a journalistic mistake.

Reddit's users also express doubts that the creator of Bitcoin is Le Roux. According to Emc2me, some of the things in the whole story look attractive, giving the impression that someone is consciously trying to create a complete and plausible picture in retrospect.

Questions do remain, but another version of Satoshi Nakamoto's identity needs to be recorded.
