What's the difference between Market and Limit orders

By LeftFooted | bitcoinea | 18 Oct 2025

I'm clearly particularly bored these days, and I have too much time available, because I keep studying stuff about trading.

Today, among other things, I tried working out the difference between Market and Limit orders.

Because apparently there's a difference between Market and Limit Orders.

Market Orders are buy/sell orders executed at the best available price. Say you want to execute a market order for Bitcoin right now, this very minute.

Depending on where you execute said order, and depending on whether you're selling or buying, the order will be executed at roughly $107,000, which is Bitcoin market price at the time of writing.

By contrast, Limit Orders are executed the price you set.

If, for example, you set a buy order for Bitcoin at $107,000, the order will be executed when the Bitcoin price hits $107,000.

But if you set it at $110,000, it'll only be executed if and when Bitcoin reaches $110,000.

And the same applies to sell orders.
