My plan wasn’t to write an article today since I wrote one yesterday, but if there’s something to explain better soon rather than later, without it cooling off. So, one of my readers on Bastyon suggested I publish a "piece" explaining what CASHTOKENS are! Don’t worry—I will try my best to use simple terms and "common" language for better understanding.
I know the word "CASHTOKENS" already suggests something connected to cash in the form of tokens, and, in my perception, that isn’t wrong. Why? Let me explain. CASHTOKENS are a feature enabled on the Bitcoin Cash blockchain, made live during the May 15, 2023, upgrade. This feature allows developers (and curious users like me) to explore it and deploy their own fungible and non-fungible tokens.
*This is the message that made me write up this piece, and I hope it helps.
What I mean is that the Bitcoin Cash feature, CASHTOKENS, enables the creation of all sorts of smart contract capabilities directly on the BCH chain, with lower fees, faster transactions, and better scalability than many other chains with similar capabilities.
Developers building on Bitcoin Cash using the CASHTOKENS feature can create anything they want, just as they would on any other chain with Decentralized Finance (DeFi). However, CASHTOKENS have a significant advantage: lower fees and a simpler process, allowing more people to build on this network. When I say "simpler process," I mean it! For example, using the Cashonize.com wallet, anyone can create fungible tokens (standard tokens like ERC-20) or non-fungible tokens (commonly known as NFTs) by simply following a tutorial carefully provided on the wallet by its developers.
CASHTOKENS represent the future of DeFi, and they’re on Bitcoin Cash. Most people don’t know about them because Bitcoin Cash is decentralized and doesn’t have a large fund (or foundation) to hire, for example, popular YouTubers or influencers to spread the word. These guys are expensive—really expensive! But as long as people like me are here, no stress! I, in particular, will help spread awareness and knowledge, attracting investors and developers who want to build remarkable products using CASHTOKENS.
** A glimpse on the Cashonize web wallet, where anyone can create and send BCH and CASHTOKENS
In this way, many more people can learn about CASHTOKENS, and who knows? They may even get involved in the many projects already emerging within this ecosystem, which has a promising future ahead. Don’t worry if you think those tokens don’t have a place to be traded—there’s Cauldron, a decentralized platform where tokens can be traded as long as they have available liquidity. For NFTs, there’s Tapswap.Cash, a marketplace to trade any non-fungible token built on CASHTOKENS.
Of course, this explanation might still feel like a "headache" to understand, but I believe that digging into it and learning gradually on a daily basis can help you grasp CASHTOKENS over time. So, try to stay on top of it, and if you have any questions to enrich your knowledge, feel free to ask directly in the Telegram group or visit the website.
