Splinterland's : Holiday deal is for Everyone.
May be you will be wondering that when Splinteland's lowest tier need investment of some 10 Million DEC that is oscillating between some $7500 to $800 then how these holiday deals for everyone. Many of the players are worried that it is favouring the whales too much. Players are worried that it is devaluing their asset too much and they will be never be able to get their assets value to break even after playing season after season.
Everyone has their own view regarding this sale and I feel let me take liberty to present my views on this "Holiday Sale".
Before I proceed , I will like to make clear that I purchased CHAOS LEGION presale (1000 packs) and purchased 2700 CHAOS Legion pack from site in the general sale , so do not say that I did not felt the burn of the devalued asset and it might be an easy topic to write for me but this is different story and now my focus is to think is this Holiday deal is beneficial or not for all of us.
Holiday deal for all.
Even if you buy the single pack from site, you will still get 1 BCX of the promo card and I believe it will be common card. But if you want to buy 1 pack then you should look at pack costs at Hive Engine, where you see the whooping discount at it is all due to Holiday sale that cause pack to be available in less then 2000 DEC and here it make a holiday deal for everyone.
Above is the Splinterland's chart that outline the discount on the CHAOS packs and it really look nice, but I really out stretched myself in buying 2700 CHAOS pack in general sale, I am not going to outstretch myself again though it look sweet. I know at this point of time I am not going to "Invest that I cannot afford to Lose". I might take Hive Engine route but currently I am patiently watching the DEC price and waiting for Promo card reveal.
On the other hand I am looking at below chart and thinking if it can help the game.
If you see closely this deal give potions for free to open the cards and in higher level it offers a level 10 guild for free, so it encourage to open the packs and recruit the players. Guild is now acting as reward paying mechanism by participating in Guild but that rewards is for the players. I feel if Splinterland's create some mechanics that pay Guild owner so that they are always incentivized to find the new players and encourage them to play in their Guild then these cheap deal will be win win as it might bring more player to the ecosystem.
I do not see Holiday deal as bad deal if it bring more player to system but if it do not happen, add some more season of playing to reach break even.
