Advertise With Cryptocurrency - Blockchain Marketing

By Scott Cunningham | Crypto & Things | 1 May 2021

It’s not always easy to market crypto and blockchain-related projects on legacy platforms due to many issues. If you are looking for a way to spend crypto to advertise to reach new audiences, this is for you.

The crypto-monetized or blockchain platforms that you can advertise on or boost your content on are Uptrennd, Minds, LBRY, Hive, DTube, Read.Cash, Den.Social, Brave Browser, and Presearch.

DTube -

The boosting model on DTube is similar to Hive in that the way that you actually boost content is using your voting power or from spending some of your DTC to promote your content. Regardless of which you use to achieve this, however much you are willing to use will give your content more visibility on the platform in general and specifically through the tag you set on the video.

When you are ready to publish your newly uploaded content you will see the Voting Power and Promote sliders where you can set how much you want to put towards this. Your DTC generates more voting power over time, so technically you can boost content without spending anything if you have enough DTC to keep generating a decent amount of voting power for you to spend.

Minds –

On Minds you can boost your content with your off-chain or on-chain tokens though it only makes sense to spend off-chain tokens due to the high Ethereum gas fees. With Minds tokens you’ve ideally acquired via earning them or perhaps a donation, you can boost content on the platform. You can either boost content with an ad on the sidebar or within the newsfeed. You can promote posts, videos, images, blogs, and your profile.

Tokens are valued at 1 to 1000 views. Unfortunately, as tokens go up in price, it makes it less ideal to spend them on the boosting model which delivers the same results regardless. While it’s not worth spending money on, you can earn tokens for free from using the platform or earn them from holding tokens in your wallet on chain and then use the earned tokens for boosting. This is exactly what I do to avoid spending a great deal of money and still utilizing the benefits of their boosting model.

I covered boosting a long time ago here:

I have a comprehensive guide to Minds that is a bit dated but is accurate regarding boosting here:

Hive -

Hive is similar to DTube with the exception that you must lock up your Hive via powering it up which is essentially staking. You will earn some interest on that Hive as well as it will increase your voting power that you can use to curate content and earn from that or to boost your earnings and visibility.

You can also use PeakD’s promotion feature. Many different interfaces exist for Hive and each may have its own advertising capabilities for that interface. With PeakD, you can click the triple dot dropdown menu beside a post and then click promote. This brings you to the promotion system where you can promote content based on specific tags, communities, or to all topics. You can then set how much you’d like to spend and for how long you’d like to promote. After previewing that, you can see how your ad would appear compared to other advertisers. I don’t do this often as it’s not cheap, but it may be useful to push something important out to more people.

My full tutorial and guide to Hive can be found here:

LBRY/Odysee -

The main way to boost content is via supports. Once you have acquired LBC, you can support your videos or your channel to increase its visibility on the platform. It will boost your content within the tags you have posted to as well the “Wild West” category on Odysee. The best part about doing this is that your supports don’t cost anything, you are just staking your LBC temporarily and can revoke your support at any time instantly. I recommend revoking after about 24 hours and resupporting or supporting something new. Newer content seems to be more positively affected by supports.

I forgot to explain the second advertising function which is the URL you choose for your video and how much you support that video. By choosing a popular URL like for example if you made a video about bitcoin and used the “bitcoin” URL, then you would be competing with other people who have done the same to be the top search result when someone searches “bitcoin.” This is different from general visibility gained via supporting your content based on its tags as this pertains to search terms specifically whereas normal support focus on tags and categories.

You can learn more about various features on LBRY on my secondary channel called @HowToLBRY though it is a bit dated, it covers all the basics -

Read.Cash -

With Read.Cash you can either advertise through direct sponsorships or boosting your content within the network. I’ve covered both in the links listed below but I will reiterate. Sponsorship blocks are a way for you to monetize your content and profile where people can bid to advertise on your sponsor block. You get to approve these bids as you please and have full control of who can sponsor you. Alternatively, you can sponsor other people to gain more visibility for your profile or whatever you want to advertise. This allows advertisers to get their word out directly through influencers they like or just for normal people to get some recognition for their donations.

Boosting is similar to Minds where you spend your cryptocurrency to boost your post and based on how much you spend, you will see the preview of the results you are likely to get. You will see the boost option appear after you post your blog near the top of the article. You also have a boost tab you can go to see your current boosts and manage them.

I specifically covered sponsorships on here: and the video here:

In this article on, I explain all the caveats of the platform including boosting:

Uptrennd -

Uptrennd is pretty similar to Minds in that you can use your earned points to boost your content. While it’s very cheap, everyone uses it a lot and there is a great deal of spam so it’s not super effective, but it is a good way to use your points given the high minimum withdrawal restrictions on the platform.

When you post your post, you can set how many views you would like to pay for, and then when you publish your content, you will spend those points to show your content to more users on the platform. You can see this transaction in your points history. Promoted articles and videos are still not properly working from what I can tell, but is something that may eventually be available.

Brave Browser -

While currently, you can mostly only earn BAT, Brave browser is a great way to earn free BAT. You can spend over $1,000 to advertise with them, but they are currently working on a self-serve ad system similar to the likes of Facebook. Given the results I got from my campaign with them were the best ad campaign results I’ve ever received, I’m confident that this will be one of the best crypto-related advertising models for enterprises, small businesses, and much more.

Presearch -

Presearch is a search engine where you earn PRE tokens for utilizing the search engine and patronizing their service while ads are served at the top of the search similar to Google. However, you are rewarded for your attention and time as well as the ads are very limited and unintrusive. This combined with Brave browser and you’ll be earning two tokens just for browsing the internet.

With your earned PRE or PRE you have purchased you can stake against keywords so that when people search for those terms, you are ad will be the ad shown in the first search result ad placement. This allows you to benefit from that advertising without actually spending money directly on the ad. This form of staking your tokens against a keyword encourages you to acquire more tokens to do more advertising and then rewards you for doing so. This is a great way for you to get some more visibility without directly paying for it.

I did an explainer video and write-up on how to stake your PRE as well previously here: does have a beta external and internal boosting system, but when I checked, it wasn’t currently available so I will simply leave this mention here to let you know.\

I’ve also done interviews with the founders of all of these platforms and in some cases multiple interviews. The only exception being for where I spoke with Marc De Mesel, the million dollar donator who funded the entire project. You’ll find every interview on all my platforms including those mentioned above.

I hope you found this helpful to illustrate the many platforms you can earn on and then spend your earnings on advertising or marketing whatever you please. The idea is that you are investing back into yourself or just taking advantage of the benefits offered by alternative advertising ecosystems to reach new audiences.

Are you using any of these platforms to advertise? What do you think about blockchain & crypto boosting and advertising? Let me know what you think about this in the comments below and don’t forget to subscribe!
