Mestia is a beautiful place in Georgia, on the one hand wild green nature, on the other hand dangerous mountains with a height of 5,000 m and glaciers from which crystal clear water flows.
Mestia to piękne miejsce w Gruzji, z jednej strony dzika zielona przyroda z drógiej zaś groźne góry o wysokości 5000 m i lodowce, z których wypływa krystalicznie czysta woda.
However, walking in these mountains requires a lot of endurance, fitness and resilience, as I found out today.
Chodzenie po tych górach wymaga jednak dużej wytrzymałości, kondycji, i odporności o czym przekonałem się właśnie dzisiaj.
We decided to take a short route from our lair to a viewpoint located near the center of Mestia. It took us over 3 hours and our plans for further hiking changed. It turned out that in Mestia there is a cable car to the 2,350 m high hill and it costs 20 lari per person, or about PLN 35. I didn't think twice - we're doing it.
Postanowiliśmy zrobić krótką trasę z naszego legowiska do położonego blisko centrum Mestii punktu widokowego. Zajęło nam to ponad 3 godziny, a plany na dalszą wędrówkę uległu zmianie. Okazało się, że w Mestii działa kolejka na wzniesienie o wysokości 2350 m i kosztuje to 20 lari od osoby, czyli jakieś 35 zł. Nie zastanawiałem sie długo - robimy to.
The entire route today is over 20 km, and its culmination is a beautiful view of the Caucasus Mountains from all sides. There are many simple trails at the top and a lot of time.
Całość dzisiejszej trasy to ponad 20 km, a jej zwięczeniem jest przepiekny widok na góry Kaukazu i to ze wszystkich stron. Na szczycie bowiem jest wiele prostych szlaków, a czasu sporo.
Dzień udany, ale jestem wyczerpany, bo 20 km w górach a w płaskim terenie, to dwa różne światy. Jutro prawdopodobnie treking do lodowca Chalaadi.
It was a successful day, but I'm exhausted, because 20 km in the mountains and on flat terrain are two different worlds. Tomorrow, probably trekking to the Chalaadi glacier.
