The First and Second World Wars have much more in common than is popularly recognized. You can also talk about certain differences and changes with respect to destiny or the specific time. Both in the First and in the Second World War there is the background of a nationalist sentiment with the need to expand, and of consolidated economic and military powers with the need to dominate the world. Perhaps a power called Germany could be the unknown in the equation that was repeated, but getting worse at the same time. Of course, not only do you have to point out a culprit (but if you highlight it).

It is worth mentioning, the first, one of the great differences (at least the most relevant) was the technology used in each of the Wars. In the case of aviation; It evolved very much in the face of the SGM due to the recognition of its offensive power and at the same time its great utility for carrying out reconnaissance tasks. As for tanks and other combat-specialized armored vehicles, many improvements were made; optimizing space, ammunition, firepower and maneuverability.
The PGM lasted four years in its entirety, from 1914 to 1918. In contrast, the SGM lasted a total of six years, in the period from 1939 to 1945. The PGM was developed in Europe and the Middle East, while the SGM was also outside these territories. The initial pretext for the PGM was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria (1914), added to the emerging nationalist movements. Also due to the dominant imperialism. In the case of the SGM, this was possible thanks to the general crisis that it suffered after the imposition of the Treaty of Versailles. There was political and social instability, which allowed Adolf Hitler's rise to power as Führer.
The type of conflict that characterized the PGM was between countries, unlike the case of the SGM, which was a conflict motivated by the confrontation of ideologies. The PGM had as its predecessor the SGM, while the latter had as its predecessor the Cold War between the USSR and the United States. After the PGM, the Treaty of Versailles was signed, to be stricter and to have Germany under control. After the end of the SGM instead, a war began between the Soviet Union and the United States of America called the Cold War.

The registered casualties of the PGM speak of 10 million, in figures, of military combatants. If it is the SGM, it is theorized that there were between 60 and 80 million military casualties. There were a large number of civilian casualties, but figures are highly variable and corroboration is difficult today. In the SGM, unlike in the First; Germany adopts a very aggressive expansionist policy. Within the European coalitions ruptures or betrayals of alliances take place, as an example of this is the case of the USSR passing from the Allied side to the old Central Powers (with Germany). In the WWII, Italy and Japan joined the Axis side. Formerly he had been associated with the Allied side. The new additions to the Allied side during WWII were the United States, the Soviet Union, and China.
The predominant war tactic during the war also underwent mutations. In fact, it was possible to reach a culminating point in the evolution of weapons as well, as has already been mentioned. From using trench-based strategies during the PGM, wars were carried out in the open field. During the PGM weapons such as sweeping and poisonous gases were promoted a lot (their use), however in the SGM the first submarine and nuclear weapons emerged. There has really been a big step in all areas of "the war". Both sides, both in the PGM and in the SGM, were involved in great wars that changed the course of our times. And, finally, as far as the official post-war development is concerned: the Allies were the winners of the World War II, and it can be said that the World War II ended “in peace”. I justify this last point; Germany finished paying the debt with the victorious powers at the end of 2010...
Finally, I make a final reflection in order to serve as inspiration for future hypotheses regarding the subject: It is true that the causes/consequences/demographic data have been known through the study of literary, artistic and oral sources... But , I wonder if the information has really been deepened much based on the victors... Or not?
