A new series of brainstorming is on the way. It fits in the last days’ psychologizing style – I’ve found a set of advice on one of the social media sites. The first one was about self-love, so I’ll skip that because we were talking an awful lot about that before, so here comes the next topic, which included three separate devices in the original text: the fresh start.
#2 Have a fresh start
…in anything.
I remember that time when I got my basic logistics studies in 2013. After a year of desperate and seemingly hopeless seeking for a day job, feeling totally incompetent, it was a breeze of fresh air. Of course, what came after the exams, is the proof that there are no wonders, just life’s little ones - I got hired at a ground handling at the main airport, I switched job inside the firm, because my superiors freaked out by my noobiness, and then I decided to leave the firm because I felt like I don’t want to do shitty work there just to be there – but that’s life, in hindsight, it has nothing really tragic or unjust in it. I liked that firm anyway and later went back to its neighborhood, the airport, where then I stayed for five years.
Nowadays that changed with the pandemic, the government’s decisions towards education (see next point), but one can always have a fresh start as long as their mind can stay open enough (so I wouldn’t pose this preach to a person is deep poverty or under the bridge, I am neither a hypocrite nor an airhead living in a dream).
#3 Go back to school
This is my fave because I can
- politicize: in nowadays’ Hungary it’s not that easy to „go back to school”. It premises that you have vast funds and a lot of time. Well, time is the easier one: as we don’t have kids yet, our time is more arrangeable than our peers’ with little ones. But we never have enough money even for the bare existence, in particular now, as I don’t have a dependable income, just periodic ones. I see the uplifting stories, but mine is mine – not always that kind of heroic or uplifting.
- make daydreamy plans: if some wonder (remember the latter issue: there are no wonders, but this is the point of daydreaming) happened, and we would have the opportunity to learn new things, I’d learn draughtsmanship.
It’s somehow linked to architecture, what was one of my fave subjects in college, and then it can be a really down-to-earth and sober carrying-on for those studies I picked up just because I was somehow „interested in it” or had a knack for drawing or spatial design. And it is not that crazy quest to pick it up as a 35 years old person with adult life in the background. The other fave is the environmental engineer, but now that’s a thing that I had to start earlier because it requires to be well-rounded in almost all the realia. So that is a little too daydreamy for me now.
#8 Learn a skill
Yes, this also works. I can prove that it does. Some days I have issues with getting stuff done. I mean I do the basic chores (but not the big picture, so my man’s and his brother’s mess stays where they dropped it), but when I work my mojo up and can do some work beyond the bare minimum, I learn basic Maths (I was rhapsodically bad in Maths as a kid – I wanted to like it, but I helplessly drifted away from it with time), languages (English, Serbian, Armenian is the menu now, but sometimes I reach out to revive my Polish, Romanian and French studies from high school as well, and that Czech, what we began with Ivan one year ago), I sing (not very professional, but at least not very bad) and a chess site awaits for me (but, and here comes the psychology on set, „I don’t know, how to begin it”).
Next time I'll talk about relationships and the ones from this set of prefab advice (somehow linked to the genre of wallpaper wisdom), that applies to them.
