1000 BTC moved after 10 years
According to data from Blockchain.com, 1000 bitcoins were moved from 20 different addresses to a new address during the evening hours of Tuesday "10/03/2020".
The addresses were created in August, September and October 2010, each with 50 BTC.
After the new address, created on Tuesday, received the coins, the owner moved the coins to 54 different addresses that were created during the first hours of Wednesday "03/11/2020".
Fifty-three addresses received 15 bitcoins; one received 200 bitcoins and another 4.99, for a total of 1,000 BTC.
Perhaps what is interesting about this movement is the fact that the 1000 bitcoins that were recently transferred were only worth $70 in the third quarter of 2010.
42% of the bitcoins are untouched
Although no one knows who owns this particular wallet, it is fascinating to see the first bitcoiners moving their funds after so long.
This helps to dispel the widespread belief that many people who created wallets between 2009 and 2011 lost access to their keys.
Meanwhile, according to a research report published by Digital Asset Data, more than 10 million BTC have been inactive for over a year.
This development is similar to what happened in mid-2017, and the amount of Bitcoin untouched has not exceeded 42% since then.
This is not surprising, as recent research shows that people are willing to keep their BTC for a long period of time.
