This process will occur through EIP-3675, created by developer Mikhail Kalinin. At first, the proposal aims to start the migration from Proof of Work (PoW) to Proof of Participation (PoS).
According to the EIP, the set of changes in block structure and processing will now be established. In addition, the rules of the hard fork choice and the network interface introduced by the consensus upgrade will also be defined.
Possible roadmap released
The first to disclose the update was Ryan, via his Twitter account. Next, Kalinin shared the message.
In addition, Ryan also shared a graphic published by the trent.eth account, which released a graphic of the purported PoS implementation roadmap.

Ethereum
The roadmap carries the implementation date of the London update, which will occur on August 4. Following that, the network will receive a new update, titled Altair. The implementation is scheduled to take place between August and December 2021.
Following this, the phase of switching from PoW to PoS mining will then take place, which was initially scheduled for the end of 2021. However, Chinese journalist Colin Wu stated that the full migration should only occur in early 2022.
Change will come to the core network
The tests for PoS implementation are part of the Ethereum 2.0 implementation process. In fact, these tests have been running on Beacon Chain since December. The goal was to check for bugs and then fix the design without interfering with the main network.
Since then, seven months have passed and, according to Kalinin, no security flaws have been detected. Therefore, the network apparently showed adequate security to ensure its implementation.
"The long period without failures demonstrates the sustainability of the Beacon Chain and attests to its readiness to start becoming a security provider for the Ethereum main network," Kalinin explained.
