A former colleague of mine in the tech industry has recently been playing around with Web 3.0 and crypto.

He installed MetaMask and sent me the following text:

It’s the truth.

Once you have dealt with the hassle of setting MetaMask up and securing your private keys (admittedly challenging) and getting some funds into your account, you’re in an entirely new world of passwordless, single-sign on and full sovereignty.

It’s akin to the dial-up modem of years gone by. That part was a hassle, but once you got online, the world opened up in unimaginable ways.

MetaMask was the first, but it’s not the only and as smart contract wallets and email-based single sign on (like from Magic) become even more common, people will wonder why they had to use passwords ever, especially multiple passwords for multiple sites.

With MetaMask, you sign on once and you’re in Web 3.0, no matter which site/network you visit.

And when you purchase, there are no credit cards, no CVV codes, no authorizations…it all just…happens.

When my friend says “the UX is tremendous,” he means that.

Once you see the future, you can’t unsee it.

That’s what he means when he says “it unevenly distributed.”
