Banco BTG Pactual, the largest private investment bank in Latin America, is transferring some of its tokens, backed by real estate securities, to the Tezos blockchain. The bank had previously offered its ReitBZ tokens on the etherium blockchain, which raised $ 10 million in ETH and GUSD.
Which blockchain will dominate the market in the future?
Andre Burtillo, head of digital assets at BTG Pactual, told QuinTelgraf that $ 5 million ReitBZ and $ 2.5 million new will be transferred as a fiat to the Tezos blockchain. The reason for this diversification is that the bank wants to increase its options, because it is not possible to predict which blockchain will prevail in the long run:
We don't just want to be dependent on a blockchain. Because I can't say which blockchain will dominate the market. We want to have a variety of options and different blockchains that do better in publishing tokens that are considered real assets.
Comparing the cost of the digital asset approach to the traditional paper approach, Portillo noted that the digital asset issuance approach is a little more expensive, but has certain advantages and infinite scalability.
The importance of liquidity
BTG Pactual also partnered with service providers such as Securitize, but decided to do so on its own to learn the basics. According to Portillo, the bank's ultimate goal is to reach its maximum potential customers:
As a bank that moves towards digital assets, we want to discover the best technology solution so that we can increase our product audience.
The bank is currently trying to issue its securities tokens at some exchanges in Asia, as liquidity for this type of digital asset is one of their weaknesses.
