In an effort to help combat a new spike in Covid-19 coronavirus infections, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has declared a national state of emergency and imposed a night-time curfew between 23:00 and 06:00 local time alongside other emergency measures. The Prime Minister also said that he will ask parliament to extend the new rules to up to 6 months.

The curfews begin on October 25th, 2020, and will initially be enforced for 15 days. Authorities of different regions of the country could have up to an hour of flexibility if they wanted to modify the overnight curfew durations. Local authorities can also ban or restrict travel between regions. The new emergency measures also limit public and private gatherings of different households to a maximum of 6 people. As of now, Spain has recorded well over 1 million confirmed cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus alongside over 34,750 Covid-19-related deaths.
