The South Korean Ministry of Education announced that due to the largest spike of Covid-19 Coronavirus cases in about 2 months, 251 schools in the city of Bucheon have been forced to close while another 117 schools in the neighboring capital city of Seoul have postponed their reopening. Thousands of students originally started going back to school on Wednesday, May 27th, but a day later, 79 confirmed cases of Covid-19 was reported, marking the highest daily figure in 2 months.

According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare of South Korea, most of the cases have been linked to a warehouse distribution center run by the Coupang e-commerce firm. Officials of the Ministry of Health and Welfare stated that the facility failed to comply with infection control measures, and investigators discovered traces of Covid-19 on several workers' shoes and clothes.

In an effort to combat the transmission of the virus and reduce the chances of future outbreaks, public parts and museums across Seoul and its surrounding cities have been temporarily closed, citizens and visitors have been advised to avoid large gatherings and stay at home unless they are making necessary trips to purchase necessities or go to work, and businesses have been urged to encourage more flexible or remote working.

As of now, South Korea has confirmed 11,402 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus alongside 269 deaths. So far, 10,363 people have recovered.
