President Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique states that the nation's state of emergency initially declared on April 1st, 2020, will be extended for an additional 30 days to combat the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus. President Nyusi said that although the initial state of emergency has greatly helped reduce transmission, some people were still leaving their homes for non-essential purposes.

As of now, movement within Mozambique is restricted, no foreigners are allowed to enter the nation, and schools alongside higher education institutions are temporarily closed. Currently, the nation's Ministry of Health has confirmed a total of 76 cases of Covid-19 with no deaths. The virus first entered the nation on March 22nd, 2020, and 12 people have since recovered.
