Uniswap is a decentralized (DEX), Market Maker-type protocol for automated liquidity provision, designed to remove some common barriers in DeFi such as intermediaries and prioritization challenges.
Have you already heard of Uniswap? If you still don't know what it is or if you have heard of it and want to try this interesting exchange, you are in the right place! In the new Uniswap 2020 Guide, we will show you what Uniswap is and what role Ethereum's most used DEX plays in the crypto landscape.
What is Uniswap?
There are thousands of cryptocurrencies in the crypto universe and most of them are built on the same blockchain network: that of Ethereum. Tokens built on the Ethereum network are known as ERC-20 tokens.
Given the existence of such a large number of tokens, it can be difficult to switch from one ERC-20 token to another that is not listed on the same exchange.
We can therefore define Uniswap as a decentralized ERC-20 token exchange that allows you to exchange ETH with any other ERC-20 token in a decentralized way.
There is no company involved, no KYC and there is no mediator who can interfere.
For all lucky users like me, who have used this great decentralized application,
there was this fantastic opportunity to receive your UNI governance token in your wallet.
