Trying to get a flaky mind to commit! - Learning to code edition

About Me and how I intend to use this blog:

So I've never been one for keeping a diary or blogging on a regular basis.  Partly because my mind can't sit and focus on one thing over a sustained period of time.  And also partly because, what if people don't like what I'm saying!

I recently made a resolution to learn how to code - not a new years resolution (as my brain rejects the notion of doing something because everyone else is doing it - I'll dig into that another day).  I digress, again.  In fact I'm surprised I've made it this far.

Like a lot of people, during the Covid-19 lockdowns here in the UK, I discovered the world of blockchain and was drawn into the rabbit hole.  I've been DCA into a few projects for just over a year and over the whole I'm up.  The mantra that is beaten out all the time is DYOR (do your own research) before investing into a project's token.  It has been this research that has opened my eyes to some really exciting projects that sets the brain wandering and thinking of use cases for the technology.

Occasionally I'd think of a great idea, add it to my notepad and move on, with the intention of seeing if anyone else comes up with the same ideas and I can get on board those trains.

Then I thought, why can't I do that?  There's nothing stopping me.  So I started to look round and was completely blown away by the amount of resource out there for people like me who want to get into coding.

Resources currently accessing:

Fast forward to present day, in the typical way my brain operates, I've started multiple coding courses over the following platforms:

Codecademy** - great online resource with structured interactive lessons. Multiple languages to learn. Started SQL and JavaScript courses.

Udemy **- Large collection of interactive instructor led courses.  Normally a cost is incurred, but there are occasionally deals to get courses for free, I found a Python programming course via 'Hot UK Deals'.

Blog sites - like this one! Where people share tips and links to beginner coding programmes/ courses.

100 days of codechallenge yourself to form a habit by coding for at least an hour over 100 days

This is by no means an exhaustive list, but they are resources I am currently using to learn some basics.  I'll write more detailed posts about the resources I've found and experiences using them as a complete beginner.

(** if you use Lolli - you can earn bitcoin should you decide to hand over money for content/ pro memberships on these sites)

I'll be using this space to share my progress and updating with projects I am working on/ completed.  If by any chance someone reads this, drop me a hello, or if you know of some good coding resources.  Even better if you know ways to discipline an active mind... ;)

So for now - Hello World!

"It has to start somewhere, it has to start sometime... what better place than here, what better time than now" And coupled with an understanding that our time here is limited, ask yourself - "Why Not"? This blog will be where I haphazardly share my progress in a number of things, mainly coding, learning Italian, buying cryptocurrency and NFTs etc.
